Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been wanting to start a gratitude thread for some time, just been sooooo busy. God blesses us all so much in our homeschool/family lives, I thought it would be nice to post on the things we enjoy/are grateful for in our lives. What in family life, homeschooling, etc. makes your heart swell?

There's nothing like holding a sweet baby in your arms as they snuggle in, nursing contently, drifting off to sleep.

There's nothing like sitting down with all your family in the evening to pray together, seeing all the precious gifts of husband and children there with you, enjoying the time just sitting there all together, and thanking the Lord for that gift.

There's nothing like......

There's nothing like coming downstairs in the morning and seeing your 7 yo son finish putting the clean dishes away without being asked!

...sitting on the couch watching the Science channel and your four year old squeeze in with the three year old while I'm holding the 18 month old...take your hand, look up at you, say "I love you mom" and sit there for the rest of the show

I was just thinking how nice it will be to be in the van with the a/c for the hottest part of the day today.

I would have to agree! I am thankful that a few times the scout master told the boys - give you mom a hug - she deserves it for helping you! I also like the fact the scout master tells his 20 yo son I love you.(and he sons replies back)

~~~ oodles and oodles of blackberries and many willing hands to pick them and preserve them!
~~~ a visit with a sweet grandchild!

~~~ prayers from the Mystical Body of Christ, especially fellow members of the Church Militant, for all our intentions, big and small!
.. watching your 12 yr old son help your 6 yr old son wait for the right moment to dive in during a relay. Especially when that older son had just gotten out of the pool after swimming his own relay in the same race.
..There's nothing like Sweet and healthy children......
..Kisses all day long.....
..A husband who comes home from work early so that you can nap with a bad cold AND gets the kids to clean the house while he makes dinner!
...tender babies to hold and nurse..who looks up as if you are the best person on earth!
...watching your almost 4 year old daughter run in the front yard, her golden hair glowing in the sun, with an appreciation for each and every step she takes, considering it a miracle since her little accident at home one year ago next week that could have taken her life, but only took her toe. Praising God that she can walk and RUN!
...there's nothing like receiving Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist...as a convert, I find it incredible and unbelievable that I ended up here! A Catholic!! Praise God for His mercy.
.....watching your children playing together outdoors, giggling and enjoying each other.
......coming to the end of a day, enjoying time laying next to your dear sweet husband, talking and relaxing.
......a dh and children who do all the dishes!
...fresh baked bread coming out of the oven.
.......dh saying "why don't we have corndogs and a movie", instead of expecting a nice home-cooked meal when he can see you're overwhelmed.
.......a big sloppy kiss from an adorable toddler who melts your heart and says "Mom" with adoring affection.
.......4RealLearning, a beautiful place, with genuine and wonderful Catholic homeschooling friends, a place of support, and a wealth of wisdom.
~Rowing with dd on your own pond in your back 40.
~Enjoying surrounding nature together.
~Catching frogs to bring back to the house for 3 toddlers to enjoy squealing over.
~Trying to keep said frogs in 3 seperate pockets of life vest, while trying to catch more. (You wouldn't believe how good those little things were at wiggling out of the corner of the pockets in a split second of distraction while reaching out to catch another!)
~Learning to let it just roll off your back as cute puppy of a year old obliviously chases away the "Jim Dandy" of a frog you're trying to catch for your 3 yo son. Growing in patience in that moment, and truly feeling it with gratitude.
~ A cute chubby blond haired baby sitting in her swing on the swing set giggling with glee at the sight of her Mommy as you return to the house from said jaunt into nature with her sister.
~ All three toddlers running up shouting "Mommy!" with smiles of delight on their face, greeting you upon your return.
~ Oldest child expressing gratitude more than once for you taking the time out to go rowing on the pond with them and catching frogs.
~Dh willingly watching all the youngest so you could enjoy those moments with said daughter, and greeting you with a hug upon your return.
~A Dh who likes canning! (I confess I find it daunting    , never did it much at all growing up. Gratefully he grew up canning a ton in his family, and it's old hat to him, in fact brings back good memories! )
~Fresh heirloom tomatoes from your own garden. Oh are they delicious! The toddlers all agree, the trouble isn't getting them to eat them, rather it's keeping them out of them until you get them to the house! (As my MIL says she's never seen the like for children who'sd eat their veggies. You set out a veggie tray and they'll eat their way right through them. )
~Your first egss from chickens you got this year.
~ Learning together and researching with dd how to tame your rooster who is all of a sudden "feeling his wild oats" and getting a little too cranky at people.
~ Sharing the experiences of caring for chickens with dd. They are funny creatures!
~ Having the best school year yet with your children, especially as your struggling learner has many "I get it" moments with a big smile, doing your heart so much good. Making you want to
~Moments of silent gratitude, thanking God for all this and much more in the life He gives us.
