Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am a stickler for holidays spent at home.

A couple years ago, I gave in to having Thanksgiving in the woods with my dh's family. I did this because the children wanted to go and I was given Christmas to do the whole sha-bang at my house. Everyone goes camping and they fry turkeys and everyone prepares a dish.

It's really a lot of fun and has grown on me.

We have never joined them at Eastertime. We usually drive up there the Monday after Easter.

Well, this year I was out-voted and basically told to "walk the plank" if I didn't want to go. The children were driving up to Toledo Bend with their uncle and aunt. I could pack up and go with them or stay home and sulk.

Soooo....with the understanding that Christmas remains my holiday at home....

It's our first Easter spent in the woods.

And I'm the one having to pack up all the Easter stuff and hide it in the camper. But I'm boo-daying (pouting) again.

I do have plans for the Easter bunny to hide the eggs in the woods...hoping for good weather. And I'm going to lasso everyone into helping dye Easter eggs on Good Friday.

Maybe we'll go find roots and stuff and try dying some the old-fashion way.

I'll try to make merry despite the inconvenience. I may have lost the battle, but I plan to win the war.
