My husband is in a position to look at a job in South Carolina. We're not interested in moving, but we need to look at the pro's and con's to make the best decision. We currently live in NC and homeschooling is very easy. Looking at SC, it looked much more regulated. Anyone living there that can give me a heads up? Thank you!

Busy time of year.. maybe they just aren't around now. You might look up some homeschool groups and see if you can get anyone to call and ask questions of.

Jenn, we lived in SC years ago... there are several on the CarolinaCatholicHS list. I can't remember if you're on that list or not.. PM if you'd like to join- it's for NC and SC.

I moved away three years ago, but at that time the regulations did not seem too bad. Many families joined an umbrella organization to serve as their accountability group and then kept a small portfolio of work for each child for each year. I can't remember if yearly testing is required.
But I do remember clearly the sad state of many of the public schools there, and where I lived the local Catholic school had its own problems. Many, many families homeschool.

THank you, Ladies! I'm off to put a prayer request for our family, search the internet and make some phone calls.
