Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What places do you like for ordering books? Dh has banned me from using Amazon. I placed an order with Barnes and Noble on the 26th and it still hasn't shipped! Every item (only 4) said "usually ships within 24 hours" so I'm becoming increasingly frustrated. I'm on hold now with customer service; we'll see how that goes. Pray for me to have patience with them... I can't find anything I'm looking for at Borders. Any other suggestions??

Depends on what you are looking for. If I may ask what happened with Amazon?

I usually use Amazon, Half.com (ebay company and depending what you want you can find some good stuff on there), Barnes and Noble and/or Borders.

Back on Nov 10-11, '10 they sold a Kindle book by a man named Phillip Greaves (I'm not even going to say the name of the book here). After a lot of controversy and boycott threats they removed it, but DH still wishes not to support them... so there we are.

After about 45 minutes (which, besides the long hold, went very pleasantly) on the phone with B&N, I found out that most of my order has shipped and I should receive it by the end of Friday. They were having some kind of issues... updating there system or something, I don't know, but I'm glad to know when I'll be getting my items...

overstock.com has a lot of books and good shipping prices.

I go ahead and use amazon though.. I figure any company that sells many books likely would make unsavory books available.. most of the time we just don't know about it.

I'm overseas and everytime I ask for a book from Amazon they tell me they won't ship to my address

Anyhow my favourite places;
Book Depository, based in England, very affordable and Free Shipping worldwide!! Excellent, excellent service.
Betterworld has become my new alltime favourite as they now also have Free Shipping worldwide, service is good although they take slightly longer to get here. (3weeks vs 2 ) They also sell 2nd hand books, so now with free shipping they are very cheap. Their brand new prices are great too, I always compare.
Abebooks I tend to use for my OOP books, harder ones to find. Occasionally they have free shipping for some books too.
Addall is good for finding OOP books and comparing prices. (HT Jen )

I look through bookfinder.com and Addall.com for different stores, and usually buy the best price through them. I buy a lot of used books instead of new. I do use Amazon mostly, though.
