Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My loved ones are already asking me, "What do you want for Christmas?" I have answered, "I'll need to get back to you on that..."...and then promptly looked up ideas here. All I can think of on my own are pretty long sleeved pajamas and books .

2008

Soooooooooo, what DO you want for Christmas this year?

(Oh, if anyone runs across a similar topic from last year, please post a link here. Thanks!)

Love,

A decent iron, a new hand mixer...my 25-year-old appliances are starting to break and this would be a nice way to replace one or two.

I also need some nice plastic or metal kitchen spoons (one of mine mysteriously disappeared while I was on my vacation with dh this summer, and the replacement I bought is too big). Salad tongs, too.

I used to dislike practical gifts like this (e.g. dh giving me a toaster oven), but now I prefer them, because I use them all the time.

Just putting a wishlist together for my parents today, so this post is very timely!

Lots of books (especially ones I check out from the library over and over again and would love a copy of my own)
Hydration belt (for distance running)
Ceramic 9x9 pan
Spring-form pan
Chocolate ;)
Running socks

A new handbag, my current one is in a very sad state. I'd love a blender and mixer too but most likely out of the budget, but talking dreaming here. Then again I'd also love some large cooking pots designed for a family our size, but dh would probably deem them too practical and just buy them if I can ever find any.

someone to come and organize me.
or maid service

Okay...now on to things I might receive:

knitting needles
bigger crock pot

I really, REALLY want a big (like 40"), beautiful statue of Our Lady of Fatima. If I get nothing else but that I will be happy.

I'd also like an Our Lady of Grace statue for my garden but I can wait until spring for that.

Now that is something I have seriously considered!
Actually, I did finally get a kind woman to come about once a week to help me with the downstairs and it is making a huge difference here! BIG SMILE!

I know that I will have to do the rest of the house on my own and I have learned/AM LEARNING that giving away items is my answer, but I just need to stick with it!

I am scared to get new items here cause we will have to find a home for them.

I should probably mention that by some incredible grace we moved (this past weekend) to the house of my dreams. Not a mansion by any means (it's a rancher actually ) but it has EVERYTHING I ever told my dh I wanted in a house. I am still pinching myself because the way it worked out was, well, nothing short of miraculous and frankly I am so grateful that although there are MANY things I could ask for (Kindle, treadmill, new living room furniture) I would really just be happy to give honor to Our Lady by placing her statue prominently in my big bay window.

Congratulations Michele - everything sounds wonderful! And I especially like how you want Mary to be a part of your dream home (literally, right there in your bay window!)

I'd like to go on an Ignatius Spiritual Retreat for a week-end. My husband would like to go on one himself. So that is what we are giving to each other

My mother and my grandmother gave me my present early---the last item to complete my kitchen--new counter tops. They arrived today and are beautiful! A good friend took me to JoAnns and bought the fabric for me to make curtains as another early present. The fabric is pretty but a little funky--love it!

Everything else I would like are the little "touches" to finish the kitchen, such as steel measuring cups and spoons, a new (stain free apron), pretty dish towels, etc.

I have many things on my want list (hygrometer and oven thermometer, bread machine, boots)

but what I really want for Christmas is

for hubby to not have to travel to Istanbul the week of our anniversary :(

I'm going for the big ones this year (I won't get either, which is fine, but I also get a hard time because I only ask for socks or movies)!

Ipad - so I can websurfing research in the parking lots of all these activities we keep doing, I don't have a fancy phone

either a Wii or PS3 (don't tell my son ;-) I want one of these strictly so I can do the instant play on the tv from Netflix

Ha, very frivolous this year, just fun to dream!

We are trying really hard to not do presents for eachother this year. Of course, we say that every year, and every year my DH has to break it. So, while I don't think these will come, I would love to have them:

An elliptical
A new phone that I can check email and surf the web
*a maid*
an assistant
a handyman to come and fix all the odds and ends that my DH has started to fix IYKWIM

I think each Christmas I have a list, but my DH doesn't like a list. So, I make a pie in the sky list, and I'm never really disappointed.
