Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sometimes God whispers in our hearts....sometimes He smacks us upside the head with a 2 by 4

For the past several weeks I have been praying for ideas to reduce my families (and mine) abuse of television. It was ALWAYS on and if I turned it off kids would have fits. It was getting ugly.

Well I went to Adoration with this issue again on Thursday. Friday a power surge during a storm fried our television set. Nothing else was harmed--just the tv.

Thank you God

We had the same type of experience here. After a move with much younger children, I had fallen into the habit of daily tv,from just after the kids woke up I didn't feel that I really had it in me to engage in a battle of the wills with my then 4y/o (doesn't that sound pathetic? ) and was stuck in this rut that made me so unhappy.
God took mercy on me, and took away our television. Nothing so dramatic as a power surge...it just stopped working.    It was years before we got another tv, but we've been able to maintain a more moderated approach.

how funny! I guess I'd better stop praying about how to deal with our accumulated stuff--the whole house may burn down.

I had a similar prayer about my basement disaster a few years ago. It was so full of stuff! Then it flooded.    So definitely be careful what you pray for!

Hey, and now the kids can't be upset with you about turning off the TV! Good deal!

Peace,
Nancy
