Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am looking for a gift for my niece who is turning 16 this December. My brother and her mother are not married, neither has any religious faith. Her step-mother, who was a wonderful influence in her life, died last year. I really fear that she has no positive role model or adviser to help her navigate the teen years.

I was looking at the preview pages of the new All Things Girl book- Truth for Teens, on Amazon and really liked the introduction. It does jump into discussing the Sacraments, especially Confession, right away. I worry that a non-Catholic might put the book down at that point thinking it isn't for her.

Does anyone have the book? Will it work for a non-Catholic? Is there something out there similar for teen girls? Of course, the whole message (from what I have seen) is very Catholic, but I would think that there could be Protestant authors who share a similar message. I want so much for her to be encouraged and understand her real worth and how to respect herself.

Ideas?
Thanks!

I've never heard of All Things Girl book. But I do recommend Captivating as another choice/something to look into for a later gift. I give this to all the teenage girls we know for either birthday's, Confirmations or high school graduation gifts.
