I don't know if you are all aware of the controversy surrounding homeschoolblogger right now, but I am so conflicted as to what to do. I don't want to add fuel to the flames, so I won't link to or describe the controversy (if you are interested I can pm you) but suffice it to say that I am seriously considering changing blogsites. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but to me it is a huge investment in time (on dial-up here so everything takes forever) and effort. I have set up a new blogsite, but have not used it yet, I guess in hopes that I won't need to?
Anyway- I am seeking advice here from those aware of the issue. I am not usually one to hop on the boycott bandwagon, but I also don't want to support things that go against what I believe by my NON action, kwim? It also grieves me to think I may be associated with the kind of terrible things that have occured simply because my blog address is homeschoolblogger. Should I abandon ship? Should I wait and see if it will resolve itself? What do you ladies think? I value your opinions and advice.

Dear Theresa,
I do not know anything about the controversy, but, as long as you continue to keep a blog of your wonderful homeschool, I'll be glad!
I'll pray for you to have the gift of wisdom as you approach this decision.

It's tricky, Theresa! Lots of very strong emotions there.(edited to make it clearer: I meant on the part of the boycotters, not necessarily you -- you're sort of a bystander in this)
But anyway, I'll support you either way!
Boy, do I admire you for maintaining a blog on dial-up (especially with all the neat pics you post on there). I don't think I could have even gotten on this board much if we hadn't finally gotten DSL in our area last year

I agree with those above Theresa, YOU are not the controversy, but I imagine it's kind of like the AG thing where any association can seem negative. Go with what's in your heart. If it's any consolation, I am on dial-up and I can get around pretty fast with my Typepad blog, and it's MUCH slower at Blogger. PM if you'd like to dicuss and don't know if I've helped or not. Praying for your discernment on this tough issue.
Blessings.

Another perk of Typepad is that you can import from other blogs, so you could transfer your blog that way. Typepad isn't a free host, though. You might be able to import into Wordpress (and that's free).

yes, you can import into wordpress. and because it's open source, lots of help available anytime you need it -- too much sometimes, iykwim

I am aware of the issues and would think it worth your time to switch, but this may be because I do so agree with the boycotters POV.

OK, I spent some time this am and figured out the controversy...is the problem with TOS/HSB because the Pearls advertise in the magazine? Or is there something more going on??
Thanks
