Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ever heard of this? I really think I'm going to try it using this deal. Sounds like clothing Netflix...but I don't have to send what I receive back, just send out something different, if that makes sense

Maybe it's too early in the morning for me to be looking at this!

This looks really really neat, especially for big families. I'm considering giving it a try. I've purchased on ebay before and have tried to put our stuff on there. The bidding isn't hard the selling is very time consuming. This sounds so much easier. Now, I can't figure out if you can see the cloths, it doesn't seem like you can.? Thanks for posting, let me know if it works out for you .

I signed up to check it out. One mom has pictures up on Facebook. I guess it's optional -- some do it, some don't and just rely on descriptions?

So I did it and already ordered a box. A great big experiment! My boxes to fill will arrive next week.

I'll have to let you know!

I was thinking too I'll sort of do a double box. One box for thredUp and then put together an amount that would fit into another box. BUT take that second box to the consignment store, get store credit and then see what I can buy for that credit and then see which is going to be a better value.

I have so much to do something with, just want to see how much I can squeeze back out of it!

I've given up on consignment. Twice I brought stuff to sell and they tried giving me a couple of dollars for a few pieces (not each piece). I don't get it, the clothes were clean and well-taken care of, but I suppose they're more traditional than what most kids "out there" wear these days, I mean some were not "labels". But it just left a bad taste in my mouth. Apparently the big sellers are the ones with brand names (like Abercrombie and Fitch let's say) or anything with celebrity pictures on them. Or that just say trendy-trendy-trendy. UGH.

But that's our local "Once Upon a Child". I haven't tried to consign it anywhere else, and YMMV.

Please keep us posted. I signed up too. But have to read through some of the box descriptions some more.

I'm really cheering for this .

As for consignments, our local just closed, and the other is very much like you describe Stef. I didn't think it was worth taking in our stuff to them at all. There were to many resctrictions, if it wasn't the current seasons then you only get store credit or if the style wasn't right you don't get much at all.

I tried to compare one season. I took two bags to the consignmnet and sold two bags on ebay, there was no comparison on which gave us more. But, again the time to do ebay was just not good use of my time. And I think I ended up spending more on the things I bid than I actually sold .

Stef I don't like our Once Upon a Child either. I have tried them before. It was a huge bust! It's not in a great part of town necessarily either though. And I wondered if it being a franchise makes it less too, like they can afford to not be generous...if that makes any sense???

I've tried those big once-a-season type consignment sales. Those have been hit or miss. If your stuff ends up on a bottom shelf or something like that, you have no hope! And you have no control.

I've thought hard about ebay but came to that same conclusion Jenny that the time would be too much. Plus I don't always figure out how best to price my s&h, and I commonly have lost a small bit of money with that when I have sold something.

Oh and clicking around on thredUP, I checked out some folks' comment reviews. I saw one gal who has probably sent out at least 5 boxes or more. One receiver of her box gave a poor review saying nothing was trendy and too "out-dated". So I guess even there either keep the older styles out or just mix them in with some more recent ones!

I'm signed up and I'm going to try this. I have boxes to be delivered next week. I have so many clothes to send back and kids that need winter clothes, I just don't have the energy to physically take them out shopping right now - this could be great. I'll let you all know.

Okay small setback. I received an email from thredUP this morning that the owner of the box I picked to be sent to me, quote "has indicated they can't send it at this time. This happens occasionally (life gets in the way)"

Interesting heh? So I went straight to the website and they had already credited my account so I picked another box.

I was really only bummed because I had held off on buying some long sleeve shirts for my 2yold this weekend when I was out because I thought this box was coming this week! Oh well! Hope it doesn't get too chilly before this new pick comes!

Okay got my first box!

One shirt had a mark that wasn't mentioned in the ad (looks like glitter glue) and it was listed as having 6 long sleeve shirts, but there were only 5.

I'd say it was okay. However, the Salvation Army store near us is way cheaper. So I think I'll do thredUp when I just can't get out to SA.

So if you can't get out, the $15 was okay, otherwise, I could have done better for sure at SA. Glad to try it though!

Well, I joined too. I've gotten my first box and have actually sent two out. Compared to my ebay and consignment store experience I have to say I really like this. The ten boxes were delivered to me, when someone wants your box you just print the shipping label and an automatic pickup is assigned. Depending on your "stylie" points(which the person receiving your box gives you) you can get a discount on the next box you pick, so I ended up paying $13 for the second one I picked this week. As for the clothing I guess it becomes luck of the draw or if they post pictures you can view what your getting. I'm trying to be very specific on my listing details and have picked likewise boxes.

Thanks for posting KackyK, it is more convinient for me (most of my shopping with the exception of groceries is done online) due to having so many littles. I've been able to get some needed things for my oldest dd (whom I have no hand me downs for). I've also been able to get rid of some things in the effort to downsize even my stored items for the younger children. (dh says we have a garage full of clothing bins ).

I listed two boxes last night and one was bought this afternoon! So I'm sending off tomorrow.

I picked another box, can't wait to see. I had gone to Salvation Army yesterday and found nothing that trip. So I decided it all just depends on the situation! So I went for another box.

I'm excited to send. Plus I also listed a box (this isn't the one that sold though) that had size 12 boys' pants. Since it was a "low supply" box, it's marked to give me $2 credit when it is sold. The box sold was a boys size 6 box, but no credit. But I don't care! Kind of fun really!

Interesting concept!
Do you get paid when you send someone a box?

There is another deal being offered to join thredup using Totsy.

Here's a link since it's an "invite only" type sale site. (I love Totsy, and if you do join I'll get a small referral fee, thought I should disclose :-)
