Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Could someone please make my day and eduate me on the techno-audio world?? I have a severely dyslexic 9 year old son who loves the playaways (single story mp3-like devices) he gets from the library. He would like to get an MP3 (or other device if appropriate) to have his favorite stories (Narnia, Redwall..) at his beck and call. SO, what is the best way to go--do you need to buy an MP3 with an extension card then do I need to purchase the books online? Do I need to buy a subscription to audible.com or something? Please set me stratight.

we're happy with the Sansa clips the oldest two got for Christmas.. they have a 2 gig memory.. no clue about extension cards..

there is librivox.org public domain books read by volunteers so you can get them for free.

If you have audio books already on cd you load those onto an mp3 player.

I highly recommend the sansa clips, they are pretty much the only affordable ones the will play wma encrypted books, which is the format our library system uses. Check with your library as ours subscribes to some service that allows you to "check out" audio books for up to 6 weeks. (you are supposed to delete the files after that time. although as far as I can tell, it is an honor system thing, so I will delete when I finally get through a book!)

Thanks for the link Jodie, I will be checking librivox out :-)
