Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My husband is looking into transfering jobs and has the possibility of Hillsboro,or Austin. We would be looking for rural property, 5 or more acres.

I was just wondering if any of you are familiar with either location. High on our list:

1. a good Catholic Church (distance isn't too much of a concern)

2. ease of homeschooling (both seem fine to me based on a look at the HSLDA site)

3.easy and close access to nature.

If any of you have votes for or against, and the names of areas we should look (we don't want to be in the city itself) let me know.

Thanks,
Aagot

Texas is wonderful. Austin has better churches because of more choices. The hill country is close by and it is just gorgeous. However, Austin is quite liberal compared to other areas in Texas, but compared to other places around the country that isn't so. Hillsboro has the small town atmosphere, but isn't very close to a big town. Not a problem if you don't mind driving.

Hillsboro, OR is right up close to Portland.. may be hard to get far enough away from the city to find acreage at a reasonable price. And probably makes liberal Texas look conservative.

The plus side is that you can get to mountains, desert, ocean very easy.. all within about a half days drive.

Were you referring to Hillsboro,TX or OR? I thought you meant Hillsboro,TX which appears to be different from what Jodie replied to but now that I see your topic heading, I am confused. I think I posted about the wrong Hillsboro.

Thanks Lisa and Jodie,
Yes, I was talking about Austin, Texas and Hillsboro, Oregon. Sorry for the confusion.
