Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Since so many of you have been praying for my oldest on and off through the years, I thought I'd share a tidbit with you here to let you know that all those prayers have been answered in very awesome ways.

As you know our dd is in graduate school for piano performance and she is really loving her professors, classes, etc. and learning so much. Mom is much relieved that while the campus itself is far from the epitome of safety, we are convinced that our dd is safe in the parts of it she has to navigate as long as she remains aware of her surroundings and uses plain, good city smarts. (I do, of course, continue to pray for her safety but it wasn't as horrible as I imagined). She has also really discovered that she has one more area of interest in music - she loves teaching at the college level (she is teaching a music class as part of her assistanceship). In addition to all those wonderful things, the on campus Catholic ministry seems awesome here - adoration and solid Bible study plus rosary devotions, etc. The priest has been available for Confession at regular times but also at any time any student requests it. She wasn't even stressed about money - yet, just knowing this was where she needed to be and kept looking for a church job. At one point she confided in me that her ideal would be to find a job in her own church and even if it paid less, as long as it covered her expenses, and she had some say (enough to make a difference), she would work really hard at sharing her talent and giving back in her own church and doing extras - that was her dream job.

She was looking for an additional job to cover the unexpected higher expense of housing (to have safe housing) and had several leads - but didn't feel completely at peace with any of the jobs though they would pay very well. Missing her own Bible study and having to work in someone else's church over Christmas, etc. just made her hesitant. She was trying to decide about applying as she really did need the extra money, when someone told her about a priest looking for a music director. It is a long drive - but since she didn't have peace with the other (She didn't want to have to give up her Bible study/Adoration time and not be home for Christmas while working in someone else's church.) and this came up as she was praying, she went to talk thinking it might be too hard for them to make it work considering her limits based on distance and her need for enough to cover housing costs and the very long drive.

Everything looks like a great fit and she is very excited to finally be working in her own church. It looks like she has this job and though it is a long drive, they are accomodating her so she does not have to drive at night (something I really wanted as I didn't want her driving in and out of campus at night in her older car)nor multiple times; she will not need to miss Adoration/Bible study on campus; it will cover her housing and the extra driving and gives her flexibility for things like coming home for Christmas (she will of course have to be there for Midnight Mass). We are so excited and thankful to God for arranging things in such a marvelous manner. I shouldn't be surprised anymore at how various difficulties melt before us as we ask for God's help - but it still floors me every time.

The Bible study at the campus was led by the priest giving them guidance on discerning God's will and then she got to see it in practice in discerning whether or not to pursue the other job.

Anyways, thanks again to all of you who have kept her in prayer (whether you posted or not) on and off with my multiple requests. God has answered far beyond what we were asking.

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.

Janet

That is so wonderful! I hope and pray that my girls turn into responsible adults as your daughter clearly has :)
