Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Help! We have pink Crayola washable marker stains on a beige carpet. Plus we are in a rental house. I've already tried a couple stain removal products. They have lightened the stain, but now the spots are actually more spread out. Yikes    Any ideas?

I have beige carpet that shows every little thing. The best advice I received was from my mil to use ammonia in water and blot it on the spot with a clean white cotton cloth (using a clean spot on the cloth for each blot) until the spot is gone.

BTW, It is good to test the carpet in an inconspicuous spot first.

How about bi-carb mixed into a paste with water. Leave on for a while then gently sponge off!

Victoria,

Have you been just spot cleaning or have you tried an actual steam machine? My husband is my "stain hero."

Here is his arsenal:

First he tries an oxy type cleaner with a scrub brush. Honestly, this does not always work. The demos on those TV informercials always seemed to be done on immediate spills, not set in ones. I suppose it is worth a try, if you haven't already.

When that does not work he has a small version of the Little Green Clean Machine. He mostly uses it for spills on the couch.

When our carpets really need a onceover (or we are hosting a Baptism celebration, welcoming vacationing relatives, etc.. ), he rents the industrial carpet cleaner from the grocery store. I think it is called a Rug Doctor. He also uses the cleaners that are sold where the machines are rented. I don't even want to know the yucky chemicals in them and they are not exactly a bargain -- unlike his wife, who is often distracted by the details, my husband is out to conquer the task, not over-analyze things such as the cost or toxicity of the chemicals.. y'know the whole business of "men are conquerers." In the end, the rugs look very nice and clean when he is finished. I cannot think of a stain that did not meet it's match with the industrial cleaner.

I hope your stains come out!

Blessings,

i pretreat the spot with spot shot and then use a steam cleaner with tide and some downy to keep the tide from foaming.
