Hello Ladies!
I am writing to ask for your ideas about our Couples Night both my Husband and I are hosting this month. Our theme is "Blessed/Married Saints". I have a good book that was recommended to me by Anne (from Australia), from which we will read outloud some Saint Stories! As well, we are hoping a Priest friend will come and give us a special "Marriage" blessing..
Can you help me think of something else we could do, related to this theme please?
I will be providing the food (the hosting Volunteer couple takes care of it).
Thank you!

Perhaps write up a brief description of some of the married Saints stories, but have a discussion on how the Sacrament of marriage has made you grow in your faith, or improved you in ways you weren't expecting?
As for the food, could you serve dishes that have foods that improve upon each other in pairs, such as chips and salsa, or strawberries and melted chocolate?

You might be able to relate complementary foods to saintly couples, too:
St. Gianna Beretta Molla - canteloupe and prosciutto, strawberries and balsamic vinegar, grissini (thin, crispy breadsticks) wrapped in prosciutto
Louis and Zelie Martin - anything apples and cream (dessert crepes, etc.), Camembert cheese and grapes, seafood and cream sauce, mussels with appropriate sauces... (Normandy has great seafood, as does Canada!)
Sts. Anne and Joachim and Mary and Joseph - middle Eastern cuisine (olives, olive oil, hummous, pita, lamb in various combinations)
If you post a list of saints/blesseds, I can probably help you find more food pairings...I love cookbooks!

If you haven't already included them, I believe the parents of St. Bernard of Clairvaux were both Blessed or Venerable, along with several other family members. You can read about them in the book entitled "The Family That Overtook Christ" (I hope I'm remembering the title and the saint correctly..I gave my only copy away)...an inspiring tale of the sanctity of St. Bernard and several family members.
Your couples night sounds inspiring! May the Lord bless all who attend with a grace-filled and uplifting evening that truly encourages them in their vocation of holy matrimony.
edited to add: The title above is correct...Amazon mentions that the family brought forth nine saints. There is actually a study guide for the book. I may have to order a new copy of the book and the study guide to revisit the lives of this holy family. This may be just what we need to focus on as a family.

Oh servant, that book sounds wonderful! I am going to see if they are in the book I already have. If not, will look into it!
Thank you for your prayer! It means so much and helps to know someone is praying for the success of our evening
