Can you still get on to blogs and such? A friend of mine's filter never let her see the blog posts I'd find that I wanted to share with her, it was pretty strict. Are there some out there that are customizable so that wouldn't happen?

We use Safe Eyes, and it has a time limit for internet time (great accountability for me to not stay online too long!). You can also customize settings and make multiple accounts for each child, etc.

We also have a Mac and it works fine on here. I do, however, have a husband who works in IT field, so it's all set up by him.
