Hello everyone, I am new here. I don't currently home school, but have been thinking about it. I want to explore it since it is a big step. My kids are 10, 6 and 2 and the 2 older ones are in Catholic school. So, I want to talk with other home school moms to see what it is like Thank you, Luci

Thank you all so much. Does anyone here home school in New York? Is there a forum for that topic?
Luci

Welcome Luci,
I'm not in New York but I know they have some of the strictest laws on homeschooling. You might see if there's a homeschool group in your area and get some specific information about how they are to deal with.
Regardless of laws, there are some people who won't make it easy no matter what so knowing if you'd be dealing with that type would be helpful.

Welcome to the trenches, Luci!
Ask away and I'm with Jodie, look into some local homeschooling groups for specific advice about state laws:)

Hi Luci!
I'm rather new to homeschooling too, this is our first official year (I considered myself a homeschooler in that I didn't opt to send my children to pre-school, but taught them the basics myself). This year, only our oldest (d15) is at home, but starting in September, our other four will be as well! It was a tough decision for my husband who is somewhat less confident than I am, and it took a long time for him to finally give us approval to homeschool. After seeing how well our daughter is doing, he can't help but be more at ease. We have our first evaluation today and I have to admit, although we think we have everything in order, we're a bit nervous. One thing I can truly say is that the area Catholic homeschoolers group that we have joined is a true blessing for us! The other moms are so helpful. I do hope you can find a group in your area. God bless your homeschool and be sure to count on my prayers!

Hi Luci,
I'm a NY homeschooler (Rochester). I've never found the regs that bad, but it does depend on your district and the person you email info.
