Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My husband found a good wooden dollhouse left out for special trash pickup, brought it home, and cleaned it.

Our daughter is only 19 months. She doesn't have much that would fit well in there except for some Fisher-Price (modern style) Little People, and a girl and cat from Lego sets. She likes the dollhouse but I'm not sure she really knows what to do with them in there either. With furniture though I think she would get it and be delighted.

Any ideas of where we could buy something good for her? If it's new, I need it not to be made in China, but would consider made in China stuff I could find used on ebay etc. Needs to be safe of course, especially for her age.

Or if you know of good simple plans for making dolls and furniture suitable for her, let me know! I'm not good at that kind of thing, but my husband is. He had been talking for a long time about building a dollhouse himself...

I think she may find it easier to have only animals or people in the house, that way she can move them around and not knock furniture over. if you want furniture how about one piece of furniture per room? Bedroom-bed, kitchen-stove, living room-couch, etc.
Hope she has fun with it!
God bless,

My daughter who has just turned 3 is only now starting to play with her doll house - which had some simple basic furniture plus a family, and she is only just banging the family around (putting them on the roof, making them talk to each other) for a few minutes.

I think at 19mo, even things like a little box to make-believe was a bed with a hankie to tuck in as a blanket, and that kind of thing is a good place to start. There are some nice doll house furniture that is simple and solid (but I think still says not for children under 36 months on it, for what that is worth) made by Plan (here is the website)

I second the Plan wooden doll house furniture. We have the plain wood color furniture and it has lasted through 5 children. The nice thing about purchasing the plain color is that it doesn't go out of style. For color, the kids crocheted or knitted small rugs, bedspreads, and even made tiny art for the walls. If you do decide to sell the house/furniture later, the Plan items have a high resale value.

Plan also makes lovely people to go with the dollhouse. They have quite a selection of ethnicities and the people pose very nicely. They also have grandparents which my kids loved having in the dollhouse.

Good luck.
