Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been wanting to get one of these things for a while but they seem so pricey in the high-end kiddie catalogues. I always wipe down the grocery cart before putting the baby in and really just avoid putting her in and only do so as a last resort...but she's getting to big to do the hold/push cart at same time and my back can't take it with her in the sling for very long, either! Do any of you know of a reasonable place/website that sells them--for say $20 or less?

I did a quick look at ebay and everything was $40 or more!! Good grief!!

Jennifer,

You're in luck! I had saved this link for a while because I was going to get it, but I kept thinking ds allergies would be better, so I talked myself out of it. I use a large beach towel for high chairs so he doesn't have contact. I used to do in the carts, also, but he hasn't had a contact reaction, so I've been lax...plus he's older! My final plan was if I get another child, we'll get this!

But this is Clean Shopper and costs $22.95. Not under your $20 mark, but closer. Hope that helps!

I did a quick search on Froogle and then Epinions and I came up with a couple of possibilities:

Froogle info on "Infantino Shop and Play Shopping Cart Cover"

SEARS has it on sale for $15.99 through the 18th. I did not compare the shipping costs on the different sites to determine the best deal.

Epinions reviews of the Infantino (They are mixed, but generally very good.)

A link on Epinions led me to these:

Babywise Cart Guard for $24.95 (reversible)

Target is going to be carrying an Eddie Bauer one for 19.95 but it won't be available for "2-6 weeks" according to the website.

Hope this helps,

Okay, I think I might have found a keeper.

I don't have experience with this online company, but here is the The Clean Shopper on sale for $19.95

No matter where you get it, look at these GREAT epinions reviews

I found a great pattern for one to make yourself which is pretty simple on Ebay.

I heard on our "local" (an hour away!) talk radio station today that grocery cart handles are pretty much THE dirtiest things you can touch. Great thread! (And my kids aren't little...we're training them to use Purell after visiting parks, museums, etc.)

Thanks everyone...I knew I would find some helpful advice, here! Jen, your links were awesome...I'm going to buy the Clean Shopper cover on sale at that site you listed...that is $15 cheaper than I could find it! I do like the Eddie Bauer fabric and overall look, better, but I read the one review on Target's site and it said that it doesn't even fit the Target grocery cart completely! The reviews for the Clean Shopper made it obvious that it is the best one out there...

Oh, and Kathleen, thanks for the link to the pattern--but I can't sew...though I am taking a beginning sewing class at the fabric store next month! I saved your link; maybe I could eventually sew these as gifts if I actually learn to sew at this class!

Hope this helps someone else--no more cooties from the grocery cart for Tess or ME!
