How do you spend your Saturdays? I usually use Saturday to run errands, go to the grocery etc. But, because of the hours that I am away from the house on Saturday, I look around on Sunday and get depressed because of all the cleaning I need to do! I need a different routine!

While I'm out and about on Saturdays, I try to either go to Confession or Adoration with my kids. I too understand the situation of a not so clean house come Sunday..so come Monday morning, that's our family's chore..clean up time!

Right now our Saturday is filled with running errands. DD stays with Gramma and I am normally gone all day doing the grocery shopping as well as my coupon shopping.

Seems like Saturday's are grocery shopping days for most of us  .
I try to get the errands done as early as I can, and I only take our baby along with me, the two older girls stay home with Dh. After all the errands, the rest of Saturday and Sunday are spent doing whatever the family wants to do (typically hang out at home, work outside in the yard, we have a fire-pit in the back yard, so in the winter, we burn yard debris from storms, and in the summer we burn hotdogs and marshmellows  , either way, the kids love their backyard campfires! ), whatever it is, it's done as a family. My Dh works M-F, from early morning to early evening, so the weekend is all about family time.
If the kids are just lounging around with Dh outside, then sometimes I sneak inside and scrub a couple toilets and a floor or two. ... but I try not to do too many chores, and just relax a bit, and spend time as a family.

We do major cleaning on Saturday. I do errands during the week when I am out for my dc activities. I only go out twice during the week and that is when I go to the library, bank, post office, grocery shop, orto appts, etc. I like to be home on the weekends so I feel refreshed on Monday with a clean house and rested mom and children.

Saturdays are very busy for us. I go for a run in the morning, then shower, eat breakfast, and head out on errands (always the grocery store and the library, and then a couple other places). My husband stays home with the kids and spends the morning with them--I usually get home during their lunch. We put them down for nap and my husband and I eat lunch and start on chores--we each have a Saturday list to make sure all tasks are done before Sunday.
After the kids' nap, my husband takes care of them again while I continue chores. I do my weekly housecleaning on Thursday and Friday, so on Saturday, it's usually the bigger projects (clean the showers, wash the windows--things I need my husband to watch the kids for) and the usual tidying. I also run laundry, put away library books, get church clothes out, prep Sunday dinner, prepare the bags for Mass, etc. By the time we go to bed on Saturday night, the house is clean and we are ready to spend a rest-filled Sunday.
Once or twice a month, we also squeeze visits with family for a few hours on Saturday mornings. On those days, I do errands in the afternoon along with my chores.
The big upside of having so much to do on Saturdays is that Sundays are truly days of rest around here. And we have definitely earned them!

We school 4 days a week so that we can use Fridays for shopping. We do a lot of maintenance chores during the week so that deep cleaning doesn't have to happen every weekend. That way, Saturdays are left open for whatever comes along and Sundays are relatively quiet.

Saturdays have moved all around for us. For awhile it was my day--I'd go out for the whole morning to do whatever I wanted. Sometimes I'd save groceries for this day.
These days we go to Mass, come home and make a big breakfast and leisurely read the paper. In nicer weather our kids play with the kid next door all morning which is so nice. Our afternoons tend to get away from us. Dh often has a little work he wants to do and I always have some big project in mind that I think will be easier with him home. Those two things are usually in conflict so we've been trying to establish a habit of a Friday evening planning session so we each know what our expectation are going into Saturday.
I definitely don't clean on Saturday, though. I'm a little bit all week long type of cleaner.

Like Books and Susan, we do things during the week as much as possible, assuring certain things are cleaned up by the end of the day and then scheduling a particular area every day to assure is fully clean. With a new job situation change (yet again!), my son and I are working into the details of a new schedule; but essentially our Saturdays start with some particular cleaning project for that week (every day has its small chores, but then 1 hour every Saturday morning is focused on one of 4 areas of our home, so the mopping or the deep-cleaning of something); then we have lots of relax time, some art and music.
I have two girls (10 and 12) almost every Saturday afternoon/evening and we'll do our geography or some science with all three children, have tea time with some reading from saints or books on virtues or the like, a CGS atrium presentation; then the girls and I do lots of girly stuff and my son joins in as much as he likes or he'll go play with this toys (handwork and other crafts, sewing, homemaking notebook, plan a teaparty, etc). Dinner in there somewhere  I then visit with the girls' father when he comes to pick them up and provide him leftovers
It makes for a full day, but because it's so different from the rest of the week, it is really a wonderful day to which I look forward every week. Then Sundays, we join them all at Mass, go to their home afterward and do almost nothing
ETA: I really prefer to do errands during the daytime during the week; since we are technically on a 4 day a week school schedule (CHC) we can usually do that, but it's not a specific day. Now that I'm working only from home, I can finally pick my day again :)

Saturdays are outside activity day for us. Swimming lessons, library, Marian aides, violin lessons. This works out well for us -- although I would rather have Saturdays free -- because my dh can stay with the little boys.
We do our extra weekly chores on Friday. My dh does the grocery shopping after work oe day during the week (usually Monday or Tuesday.) He's in the town with the grocery store.

My husband works on Saturdays (and Sundays too right now  ) so I run errands with the boys as early as we can get out of the house and then I do cleaning stuff until our afternoon rest time. I try to have everything done by then so I can rest too.
I do all my cleaning (except the daily "must be done" stuff) on Saturdays so that I can really spend my mornings with my kids since I work in the afternoons/early evenings.

My husband works on Saturdays, so we clean the house quickly, and then do home ec and literature for homeschooling. I try to get errands done during the week, as I don't like crowds and too many cars and people! I like to have everything done, because when my husband comes home at 130, I want him to come home to a clean house. We may do an errand with him, or stay at home while the girls play with their friends in the neighborhood. Hubby and I have "date night" in the evening. I try to keep the weekends really simple...been there, done that with all the sports activities on the weekend, and it just gets too stressful for us. Sunday is Church and just hanging out, but when it is sunnier, we head to the beach or parks to enjoy our dear Lord's gifts.
I am an early riser, which helps on the weekends, and the children are not doing so many chores, when they already do so many on the weekdays.

I try really hard to not leave the house on Saturday. Traffic is horrible in Seattle and the stores are packed. I hate it! But, I'm HAPPY to send my husband out! We do most errands little by little during the week, but we live close to everything.
We usually do work around the house....projects, home improvement, cleaning, etc. I try to get a little workout in. Dh goes to the gym. I sometimes get out for mass/confession. We eat early dinner, do baths for everyone after dinner.
I also use Saturday for catching up on a bit of "schooling" with the big kids....while dh takes the little ones.
We also reserve 1 Saturday/month for a family-outing....hiking, visiting friends, beach. In the summer, it's much more than 1/month.

My dh works 7 days a week
Saturday is spent getting kids to practices- dance, soccer, bass, piano-- then usually the $1 movie at a local theater and 6 pm Mass.
I would take dire need to get me into a store on Saturday. I don't like shopping in a crowd. My dh does 80% of the shopping at night on his way home from work and the rest I do in the morning after Mass.
