Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dd, 17, is considering purchasing a laptop with the money she earned over the summer. She doesn't need too much, internet, windows, check email, and she would like a DVD player. We use Seton, so she has a lot of typing/writing to do.

I am clueless when it comes to computer stuff, so I'm asking around. Any ideas?

Thanks!

My el-cheapo Dell with Windows XP has taken a beating over the last 3 years and is doing well.

My son's college buddy has a Dell, too, and it is still running - although he says that using a gaming-outfitted laptop for real work-and-school applications isn't the best thing - something to do with the allocation of memory, video cards etc.
