Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Yep.. smelly stuff.

do you use any? do you have a favorite scent? do you have a signature scent?

When I started wearing perfume again after a time of falling away from that. I had to really stop and ask myself.. why I wanted to wear perfume. Apparently, while dh likes it, he doesn't have a strong opinion either way. So I determined that the reason I wanted to wear it was for *me*.. not that I'd wear it against what dh likes.. just that if I was wearing it for him, then there's expectations of having him notice it and maybe changing it so that he notices etc. When I'm wearing it for me, it's just my personal scent and I wear it because I enjoy it.

I looked at my favorite perfumes in the past (which of course I can't get now.. par for the course for me).. I looked at online descriptions.. and then I started hunting for what was available near me for a reasonable cost and looked up a bunch of them.. THEN after I had a list of just 2 or 3 scents did I go and actually smell the scents. The descriptions helped me weed out ones that I knew I wouldn't like and kept me from overwhelming my nose trying to smell them all.

I picked Vanilla Fields. Not terribly expenseive. I buy it in gift boxes on sale after Christmas. Light floral with hints of vanilla. Light enough and "warm" enough to wear daytime or night, year round.

But I can never manage to keep finding scents in other things that work well.. so I just stick with mild scents but I think it would be nice if I could get a soap and shampoo/conditioner in vanilla.

Do you use a mishmash of scents? change around? use one particular scent? use one scent with other things more neutral?

Do you let your daughters use a particular scent for soaps and such that's all their own? when did you start to let them? Do they have to buy it or do you?

My mother and one sister are sensitive to fragrances (nasty headaches) so I've never worn perfume.

I do enjoy scented bath products (now that I'm scenting up my own bathroom ). I really like having a selection so that I can choose based on my mood.

My daughters (ten and younger) are occasionally allowed to borrow my bath products but they haven't expressed an interest in obtaining their own. If they did we'd probably buy it for them if it's not out of our normal price range for such stuff, since we do consider their preferences in toothpaste.

My dh does not like perfume, and no scented bath soap unless it smells like food! Artificial flowers scents give him an instant headache! There is one perfume he likes, and that is Samsara by Guerlain. I wear it all the time, and all of my clothes smell like it. I just use unfragranced soap and lotion, and then a squirt of my perfume. He is fine with candles, provided they are not floral, so I burn them alot in the winter. Tyler candle co makes really yummy smelling ones that we both really like!

I use essential oils in distilled water . I have a sprtizer bottle I spary my hair with it each morning and brush the oil/water in . My scent is lavender orange that is orange as in the citrus scent not the orange blossom which is equally as lovely but to strong a scent for me to wear .
I made one up for ds14 as he wanted to use all that chemical based bodywash stuff and my allergies just couldn't take it . I made him cedar patchouli I think . next time I'm going to try bergamot / cedar for him . He is very respectufl of my sistuation and when he ran out of my homemade version he began using whiteflower oil as his cologne
I'm working on a mixed flower version spray for friends .I think it is so fun to go to the store and think of new scents that go together .
