..break?
Everyone seems to be back already!
We will take this week off,,,mostly. My oldest will start some math. I'm still recovering from the Christmas mess, and I'd like to spend this week overhauling our extremely overburdened school/playroom and the closet in there. Scary stuff in there, it's not right.

Well, in theory this is the first day back. In practice, I'm still in my nighty and haven't done anything *productive* yet.
Peace,
Nancy

Ah. I'm in good company here!
We just returned from our travels (late Saturday night)...my house is in shambles ~ Christmas gifts everywhere. Laundry. Dishes. And on top of it all, the entire family is trying to heal from stuffy noses.
... I'm nowhere near "being back" today...
It'll take me a solid week to "recover".

We are back today but that's only because we've been off since Thanksgiving! We've had a great Advent and Christmas but its back to school for us!
Oh and we didn't travel this year either!

We are still on break. (Okay, maybe we are always on break! ) I need this week to get myself back on track, rethink some curriculum choices, and just rest! The kids are playing, reading, doing some school-ish stuff like typing and snap circuits. Dd13 is starting back on her CLAA today because she wants to.

I need at least today to recover. This is first day without dh. We all slept in today and the house is in shambles.

After this morning, I wish we would have taken this week off. We took off three weeks for Christmas because we needed it. But it was absolutely awful. Why does a 13 year old forget how to spell easy words and how to add and subtract after 3 weeks off?!

WE are back of a VERY modified routine. Don't even know if I can honestly use that word.
My ds's phone classes with MODG don't resume until next week, so I'm planning this week to do a bit of catch up and review. Plus we're taking the oldest off to college for the 1st time (he took the fall semester to work and earn a bit more $), so that will take up most of the end of the week - 3 day trip for us, down and back.

We'll be starting up slowly.. I don't wanna, but having one child needing to do speech with the local school.. well.. everyone knows that "school is starting" and in some ways it's easier to follow the school schedule (well follow it sorta anyway) than to do our own schedule where we're fighting against what just about everyone else in town in doing.

Due to sickness last week, and the fact that where I work is closed this week and I'll be making up both sick and closed hours next week to hopefully make up the lost money... we started full time back to school on Saturday. As crazy as it sounds, I'm hoping to get two weeks worth of school work done this week so next week when I'm working full time those watching my son for me won't have to do so much with him.
I wish we could have taken another week off - especially losing one to being sick!

Aaawww...what's the rush? We start back next week. As far as I am concerned, January should have been left out of the calendar. I call it "the bottom of the year"...if I get anything done this month besides sleep, I'll be very glad...I think I need a light box . When I'm through hibernating, then we'll actually make forward progress !

I have a few things on my possibilities-for-school-list, but I am soooooooo not ready to dive in. This week I'm all about early bedtime, laundry, getting this house back in order, and coffee all.day.long.
Hello, January.

I'm glad to be in such good slacker company.
My oldest's start back in math was dismal. She "forgot everything", and I had to sit and do the whole assignment with her. Sheesh. Now I'm glad we are just doing math this week!

My son learned about baby animals this morning from his ViewMaster sounds reel he rec'd at Christmas. He even narrated what he learned to the lady sitting next to us at lunch today and she asked, "How do you know all that?"
My mom came today and did their Geography lesson.
Now they're working on their pre-Christmas S is for Star sticker book that we never finished so I can try to clean my computer desk.
Does all that count for being "back at school"?
Oh and then of course I ran to the local teacher store only to have my son quizzed by an obvious teacher about whether he was back at school (since many school districts didn't go back today). He told her he was homeschooled. She said "ohh, so do you do school all day?" He replied "no, not really."

"She said "ohh, so do you do school all day?" He replied "no, not really."
My daughter told her friend's mother, a former teacher, "We skip school a lot."
I guess I wouldn't have been so irritated if it wasn't so true!

We started back today --partly because my one in school child (9th grade boy) started today and partly because I want to get those 180 days (required by the state) in by the end of May so this allows us time at Easter too.
