and I post this asking you all what to do.....My awesome husband and I haven’t been out on a “date” for over 2 years....because we can’t leave Lily with anyone, unless they are CPR certified and know trach care. Since we just moved up here five weeks before she was born...we really don’t know anyone that fits that bill.
So.....what is a fun “buddy” date, as in, we have a buddy in tow. We have taken Lily out with us, just her....and she thinks that is waaaaay fun  , but what I was thinking was we could leave with her as soon as dh gets home from work, she’ll probably fall asleep...get a romantic take out and eat it in the Suburban...and maybe walk around the mall, Lily loves the mall.
Any other ideas? I told dh that we should spend some time tonight planning our TWENTIETH anniversary....Lily will have her trach out by then, we’ll have an 18 yr old....and might be able to sneak away for a few days.
Deo Gratias for a very full 18 years with my husband!!! I am becoming who I am suppose to be with him at my side.

No really useful advice - BUT Happy Happy Anniversary! And um.. I could babysit if you fancy a bit of trip across a few states...I am CPR certified (though it was for my high risk babies 10 years ago!!!) ... you can drop them all off here.
I guess with your weather a romantic walk by a lake is not really on?
Could you clear all the children off to bed and have a romantic date at home - candlelight, music, take out, movie, dessert? And tell everyone not to disturb you unless it is an ER visit occasion or grave sin about to happen

Alrighty, m'dear!
Here's my vote - an extremely special date night at home! I agree with Marilyn! I would be more relaxed if I were at home at this point and could just make the environment there special.
Rob and I do this all the time!
Scoot the big fella's off to bed and assign one to Lily duty. Have your husband pick up a bottle of wine, or favorite adult beverage, and favorite special take-out (no Sonic...think of your favorite restaurant...chances are if you call in your order ahead they'll prepare it and have it waiting for him!) Set up the candles. Our date nights often revolve around a movie. Make a special dessert. Take a nap so you can stay up late!
However you do this...enjoy your anniversary!

You all have me thinking......I might do this at home....not to mention, that Lily, while she is doing MUCH better, shouldn’t be exposed to too much right now. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that it always is so crazy around here, and a very small living space, so it isn’t very conducive to “quiet evenings”, but with the Wii downstairs, we might be able to barter... 
Take out has me thinking.....there is so much we don’t eat because of the food allergies, it might be nice to just get a “mommy and daddy “ dinner.....now, out in the tundra, where we are...what to order?? I would like some chinese, we haven’t had that in YEARS. I’m looking into this....

Happy Anniversary!
Okay my hubby and I came up with a way to get out when we had no babysitter in sight and the kids were still little. We call it a "take out date" This is what we do. We take a really long drive like out 40 miles and the kids fall asleep in the car. Then we call in and get take out from our very favorite restaraunt and then we eat in the car. I KNOW ITS NOT IDEAL but we have some peace and quiet and in the past we have gone to the drive in movie theatre and watched a movie or listened to a funny cd or just had some quiet for a while and actually talked.
Not special enough for an anniversary dinner but just an idea for the next time you need to have some hubby and you time:)

Happy Anniversary, 4 Lads!! So, he married you in time to claim you on his taxes, huh?
About 3 years ago I wanted to do something special for our anniversary. I found a shabby chic table, bought some thrift store, but nice, plates & glasses and set up the table outside near our garden. I borrowed the kids boom box and put on Frank Sinatra and cooked a big spaghetti meal with salad and all the works. When my dh arrived home, the kids told him I "needed" him up in the garden. You should have seen his face!
The children were the wait staff and brought us the meal and dessert I had prepared. I left them several movies and a HUGE box of doughnut holes and told the older ones to keep feeding the little ones doughnuts if they fussed and NOT to bother us unless we rang for them. It was wonderful and my favorite anniversary ever. We sat out there way past our meal, lit tiki lights and looked at the stars over a glass of wine and listened to Frankie...
The children loved being a part of the planning, the surprise and being the wait staff. I borrowed the idea from Mary Bailey in "It's A Wonderful Life".

Maddie, I LOVE the idea...so sweet.
We spent MANY anniversaries home, but thank goodness we have the 17 year old to babysit! And he makes money!
Your time will come...but these ideas are great!

Maddie, that is hysterical!!!
My husband is so touched, I think he really likes the idea of ordering from a great restaurant, and bringing it home....so, we’ll have a great meal, together...with all of the kids downstairs watching Lily and doing Wii, and then hopefully a great movie, too. Donut holes are NOT a bad bartering chip!!
Thanks, Ladies...lots of great ideas!! I’m so thankful I asked, we would have just been drinking Starbucks in the car....
