Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

getting, when after a whole week "off" of school the 7 year old looks at you today and says, "Hey, you forgot to give us our spelling tests this week! Wait, I don't think I know my words! Wait, did we have school this week?"

This was an actual conversation with Gracie today----I am not really sure is this is good or bad...

Maybe they need a real school....

oh I don't know.

It's just as likely that after a week of experiments, art lessons, band, spanish exams, greek exams, finishing a history textbook, reading Shakespearem and so much more - my mil will ask "What did you do this week in school?" and my kids, bless their hearts, will say in complete obliviousness to the arrow they shoot to their mother's heart, "Nothing. Well something, but nothing much."

on the plus side, I think it's a positive they would remind you about a test!

mine sure wouldn't remind me of it.

they figure if I forget, then it's cause for silent celebration.

I remember being in a similar state of confusion as a university student when I didn't go to my parents for reading week. [I'm going to be late for class! Wait a minute..... ]

It's pretty easy to be confused about such things without a strong 'hook' to hang memory on. Particularly if some of the things associated with lessons are still going on (such as crafts and read-alouds). [or being on campus doing everything BUT going to class]
