Hi Families,
I was thinking...we have the Funny Stories thread so we should do a "Sweet Stories" thread....
Today, Joseph awoke in the wee hours or morning. I tucked him back into bed but he was tired this afternoon so I laid down next to him in my bed and rubbed his back. As he began to fall asleep he said, "Mommy, will you turn over so I can play with your hair?"
Joseph loves to do this as it brings him comfort.
I just thought this was so sweet. I'll print this out and post it in a journal for him.
Will you all share some of your lovely stories?

That is really sweet Maria. Last week when I was putting my ds (almost 6) down to bed, he turned to me and said, "Dreams can only be filled with a Mom." He's such a sweetie! When he was about 3, he cried one night at dinner because he was sitting next to me instead of across from me. When my dh asked him why this was a problem, he said, "I just want to look into Mommy's eyes."

Paddy, who's just three, hugged me a few weeks ago and spontaneously said, "I am so happy that you are my mom!"
He also has a ritual with his older (almost 16) sister where they hug every morning when they first see each other, and he says, "I missed you, my little Clare!" and she says, "I missed YOU, my little Paddy!"

As I was unbuckling my newly turned 3-year-old from her carseat in the church parking lot before Mass this morning. She gave a sigh and said, "Mommy, I love church!"
Music to my ears.

Each of my older children has a younger who is their 'charge'. My 10 year old son dislikes affection. (I'm sure he is somewhere on the Autistic spectrum.) So I worked it out that he would get the baby for his charge as that would involve lots of physical contact.
Just now, I looked in the living room. He is rocking and snuggling her with this adoring look on his face and singing
'Ode to Joy'.

I pouted a little the other day when my new 3 yo sat across from me at the table as opposed to next to me, his usual place. I asked him why he wouldn't sit next to me and he said, "I wanted to see your beautiful face, Mommy." Isn't that just the cutest thing a 3 yo could say?

I love these sweet stories. Here's mine:
Kate (3) was sad that I ran out to the store (by myself) one day last week. While I was gone, she went to my bedroom and looked at a sweater of mine. When my husband and the girls asked her what she was doing, she said, "I'll always remember Mommy if I can look at her blue sweater."

A couple of years ago when Paddy was a baby, we came home from one of our looong trips -- to So CA or San Francisco or North, I don't quite remember. But we got back really late at night and as usual Paddy was asleep in his car seat, so we all scrambled to bring in suitcases and trash and everything. After that, I got Paddy out of his car seat so I could take him straight to bed.
About half an hour when everyone was falling asleep, my son Sean (then about 10 or 11) poked his head into our room, saw Paddy sleeping and gave a sigh of relief. "I wanted to make sure Paddy wasn't still in the car!" I thought that was so cute and responsible of him, to worry about and check up on the baby before he dropped off to sleep.

Hi everyone...
I thought I'd post a story that Sophia wrote yesterday because I thought it was sweet...
Here it is:
The Star that Shined
Writing by: Sophia Peceli
January 26, 2006
Once there was a star. Everybody thought that it was a jet. So everybody just walked away from it. Because nobody liked jets.
The star was very sad.
Then, it prayed that one night it would shine.
And everybody was so happy with joy that they always looked at the star every night.
The End

Oh, I love these stories!
One of mine from this week - I cleaned up Anthony's snack plate and cup, so as not to disturb his game playing. He noticed and gave me a cuddle and said
" You're a nice mama!".

My story is just a little older than some of these, but since I'm new I'll go ahead and share it.
My baby, 6yo, was in the hospital after having his appendix out. The priest came to visit. He pointed to me and asked my son, "Is she behaving herself?"
My sweet little boy leaped over to me, wrapped his arms around my legs, and proudly declared, "She's my Beloved!"

Hi Ladies,
I just said to Joseph, "Hi, Beautiful Boy..." and he said, "Please don't call me that."
So I asked, "What would you like me to call you? Joseph? Joe Max? Cool dude?"
And he replied, "Sweetheart."
I just love him.
Hope you're all well.

Rachel, my 4dd, who loves to watch/help with the baby and also to sweep the kitchen floor asked me "Will you come and watch my babies and sweep my kitchen floor someday when I am a mommie like you?".
"Of COURSE!" I replied! I never thought of being asked this question by my young daughter, but it makes so much sense. How wonderful! Of course I will!
THANK YOU for starting this beautiful thread!

Okay, I have another story about my son...
It must seem I'm tipping the scales in his favor but what he said last night was so sweet.
About 4am I woke and had trouble falling back asleep. I went and took a nice warm shower. I came back into my room after and guess who was plopped next to my husband in our bed...yep, Joe Max. We have a Cal King so he was scooted in the middle so I went back to lie down. He looks up at me and says, "I got here just in time."
I took that as meaning "just in time" to see me.
Anyway, I was able to fall back asleep without any problem after appreciation like that...
Thanks for listening...

Our 3 yo has taken to running up and entwining his arms around me and hugging me. Then he says - "You're my mommy!" at which I respond, "You're my Johnny". Then he looks up at me and says, " I love you mommy, very, very much" It is hard to convey the sweet tone and the depth of his expression. Of course I tell him that I love him and how very special he his. Sometimes he also adds I love Jesus very, very much! I always respond that Jesus loves him very, very much. This is all followed by another round of snuggling and kisses.

My 2yod did something sweet today at church. When we went up for Communion, Daddy let her walk instead of carrying her as he usually does. She genuflected at every pew on the way up to the front of the church! I thought it was sweet that she was moved to be so reverent!

Love the stories!
Ds likes to say "You know what Mommy?" I'll answer "what?" and he'll say "I love you."
But the other day I asked what he was doing. "Oh, nothing. Just looking at you. I love you, Mommy."
And he was...just looking at his mommy.

Today, while we were driving home from the Bug Museum at UC Davis, Joseph said, "Mommy, you're bella." Then, while we were grabbing a bite, he says, "Mommy, you're bella bella."
My dh thinks that Joseph has me wrapped around his little finger but he really doesn't...really.
