Does anyone use Vonage - we are looking for an alternative to horrendous 'tax' charges from our local phone company. Vonage seems so cheap.

Any views?

We have used vonage for phone and internet for 3 years. We have had no problems with it.

oh - we had it for a short while and it was awful. dropped calls all the time. phone wouldn't ring (people would tell us they called, when we knew we were home, and so we then tried to call with our cell phone. it would ring sometimes, and sometimes not.)

I really wanted to like Vonage, and know other people who love it. but our experience was terrible.

We had it for two years and my only complaint was that the couple of times our internet went down (which was not the fault of Vonage) our calls did not forward to our cells as consistently as we would have liked. We may have had a setting wrong. We don't use them now because we decided to switch to just cells.

We use Vonage and haven't had any trouble. The calls have forwarded to the cell phones just fine the very few times we've been without internet (power outage from a storm). I have heard people happy with it as well as those who haven't had good service. It seems hit-or-miss? If it wasn't for the stories I've heard of peoples' bad experiences, I'd 100% recommend Vonage based on our experience, no problem.
