DH and I have been asked to give a pro-life introductory talk on Sunday to several couples (~10). They're Catholics, but some may be either poorly catechized or at one point fell away and are now back in the fold. We've been asked to limit the talk to 20 minutes, and to keep it light and simple... dh and I have decided to cover scripture verses, pertinent sections of the CCC and brief summaries of sections from Humanae Vitae, Evangelium Vitae, Casti Connubii and Familiaris Consortio.
Any suggestions on what to include/exclude?

Hmmm, what kind of pro-life talk? Pro-life as in anti-abortion? Pro-life as in openness to life and anti-contraception?
If it's pro-life as in marriage covenant being open to life, I always liked how Scott and Kimberly Hahn talk about their journey from contraception to being open to God's gift of life (like in Rome Sweet Rome). It's not too "in-your-face" but it is black and white.
Just my initial thoughts...

The organizers are giving away this booklet (the one at the top) and they want the talk to be a kind of intro to urge the people to read the book. Because it's not put out by a Catholic group it's really a generic pro-life booklet. And since the group is Catholic (but like I said, some are just re-learning their faith now) the talk would be geared towards teaching them about the basics, e.g., why we Catholics should be pro-life. But the organizers know I tend to get highly detailed/impassioned/political  when I talk about this, hence the "keep it simple" suggestion.
The Hahn book is a great suggestion, I didn't even think of that! I have it in our shelf so I'll check it out now for more ideas. Thanks, Christine!

It would not be bad (and I think this is what the book Rome Sweet Home does) to mention forgiveness, and that yes it's hard, that society is against you, and that you'll find ingrained ideas being challenged by the teaching because the anti-life message in society is so pervasive.
The interplay between Scott being convinced and Kimberly not being there quite yet is very much what you may find.. and remember in the book that Scott wasn't pushy.. each person has to deal with the inner turmoil it can cause in their own way and their own time. Being firm (on the teachings) but gentle will bring more people to you asking questions rather than digging in their heels and fighting against you.

Actually, Kimberly came to the anti-contraception conclusions first as I remember it, although Scott became convinced of the Catholic Church first.
From the booklet, it looks more like an anti-abortion talk than anti-contraception or other pro-life issues. Jen at Conversion Diary has a great post about how she became Pro-Life. It has a real intellectual bent, not just "this is what the Church teaches".
A lot of people know that the Church teaches against abortion, however they are hesitant to "make decisions for other people", "enforce their beliefs on others", etc. These type usually need a little more logic and understanding that there are absolutes in the universe, everything is NOT relative.
Good luck! Wait, Catholics don't believe in luck.
