Dh and I don't always see eye to eye on everything, but in a good way!
So I am wondering, after you paint a room do you keep the roller or throw it away??? Dh cleans the rollers and re-uses them. I would just as soon throw them out.....mainly because I am lazy and they cost like 99 cents. I was thinking about this today (....yeah, yeah, maybe I do have to much time on my hands), and wondering if it is even safe to have all that paint going down the drain.
I'm not really looking to "pad" my arguement, because really I am just lazy...and I do admire my dh for the re-use but really.........
Now back to cleaning my kitchen.

the pads on the rollers I toss, they never are as nice after.. the roller itself (metal that you slide the cylindrical pads onto) I keep.
Look at it as if you're getting paid.. if I spend 15 minutes cleaning a 99 cent pad.. you're making about $4 an hour. Pretty low return on your time.

But using the same paint and you just have to stop for a while...
wrap it in plastic wrap and you don't waste the paint already in it and you can come back after lunch or whatever and it's still useable

Hmmm... interesting Noreen. Roller pads I toss (though I do what Jodie does with saran wrap). Brushes I wash.

I'm all for keeping the rollers, it's the pads I want to toss. Off to read the link.

My dh keeps the pads. I would toss.

Brushes ... we rinse, wrap in plastic wrap and store in the freezer ... seems to keep the bristles better!
Rollers ... toss the pad but keep the roller itself
Sponge-like brushes ... rinse and re-use till fall apart! (we're cheap here!)

I've been known to clean and reuse the rollers

We have reused them as well, but I would probably only rinse out one or two rollers, not four or five, to save my plumbing.
Also, it would be really hard to get dark colors out!
What are you painting? Your home is beautiful!

My dad taught me to wash them in a coffee can on the lawn so it didn't go down the drain. I'm not sure if that's superior really....I'm asking the same question Nancy is...what are you painting? Are you taking down my favorite strip of blue tape?

The strip of blue paint is still there.....it's almost like a piece of art now.
I'm not painting anything right now, it is just something that has been bothering me. Though it would be nice to finish painting the basement. We have filled in most of the holes....from the cat climbing up the wall to get to the window well.
By the way.....Rachel is excellent at edging and painting!!!!
Noreen, I'm going to try the two bucket method next time I paint.
