but! I am praying for everyone's intentions!!
I had a rough night with some mild PMI (insomnia) and a teething 9mo and just when I would go to sleep, he would think it was a great opportunity to get up. If I got 3 hrs total that would be a generous estimate...
I was supposed to lose my 2 bestest helpers to my mom first thing this morning as they wanted to help her re-organize her school stuff(she is a teacher) I begged one of them to stay so I could get some shut-eye. I was finally able to hand him off to someone and then I heard a ..bang! A huge branch fell in front of our house into the road and did NOT hit any cars!! (rush hour) ...the road was loaded with them..how did that happen?? The branch ripped all of the electric and phone lines out of the house though.
about a half hour later my 4yo accidentally scratched the cornea of my 13yo ds. and he wasn't a very happy camper...it was a beauty!
after several hours I finally got my twin that was out of the house back (thanking God that one of them stayed home with me) I was able to borrow my mom's cell phone and call the eye dr...could I come now?? sure. no shower, no sleep...sure I can drive.
When I got back the power came on but the phone was off. I ran out before they left and asked them when the phone company was coming. "Well lady, we are the power company. We don't really communicate with anyone..."
I managed a cat nap and now I am out to the garden store to pick up plants for our church garden which I was supposed to plant (last month!) but due to rain and lack of funds due to some re-structuring at the parish, I just got the money...oh! and my name is on the "the person in charge of the garden is" list. (I don't know how THAT happened...) "They" (the people who don't help but are great at gossip) think 'I' am a slacker! LOL!!
So, my 13yo is sleeping and the kids are full of dirt and I am going to just transplant them to the garden down the street...dirt is dirt. and I am dirt tired!
How was your day?

Oh dear -- not as eventful!
We're recovering from various illnesses here, so we're blissfully laying low. Hope all the eyes, trees, and sleep patterns return to normal.

Oh Donna! Just reading your day made me tired. I had one like that last week.
Pulled out of the driveway to take my girls to 4h judging...misjudged how long my 15 passenger van is and completely broke a tree we planted last spring.
Got there only to discover that dd 2 forgot her 4h book and received a B from the judge (not good). Dd 2 in tears.
Waited for dd 1 to finish her judging and talked with the judge who said I could go home and bring back her book if I wanted to.
Broke the speed limit to get home. Got the book. Made it back to the judging 15 minutes after judging was supposed to end, and amazed that I actually made it since by now I was driving on fumes alone. DD 2 goes back in and finishes her judging (thankfully, the judge waited for us).
Now I don't have time to go home and feed everyone because we have to be back in just over an hour for the style revue (part 2 of the sewing judging). Call my mil to find out if we can hang out at her place since she's close. That's fine, but also end up spending $16 at McDonald's (after getting more gas at the only station close by which is overpriced) because everyone is starving...which was super frustrating to me because we are trying so very hard to economize.
Back to the style revue...chased around my extremely bored 18 mos old and 4 yr old boys while watching the fashion show. Ds 1 trying is trying to help and also cannot believe I dragged him to his sister's fashion show (at which point I reminded him how boring his Courts of Honor for boy scouts were to dd's a few years ago ). 18 mos old threw several tantrums because I wouldn't let him treat the folded tables as a jungle to crawl through (we are in a public school lunchroom).
Everyone's looking at me, probably wondering why I brought these little boys since its bedtime now, but they don't know that my dh is at work and I had no other option. DD2 actually won a trophy. DD 1 is devastated because she lost out to a girl whose *mother* made all her accessories. Get home late. Tell oldest ds to please put ds 2 in the bath while I try to get ds3 to sleep and tell all three dd's to go to bed. Ds 3 napped just long enough on the way home to not want to sleep. Ds 2 fiddled with the water Ds 1 set up and its stone cold and he's standing in the cold bath with all his clothes (!! !!) on while ds 1 is...where? I have no idea. Get ds 2 in a warm bath while ds 3 wreaks havoc and dd 1 is still crying. Dh is still at work. And at this point, I am in dire need of chocolate! Ds 3 is up till close to midnight before I get him back to sleep.
Some days...
I hope you have a lovely and restful day after the hard day.

You know? There is just not enough chocolate some days for this job
I slept better than I have in a long time last night, thank you! As yesterday happened I was thinking, now, if I wrote all of this down...I would spend my whole day writing, accomplishing nothing, and no one would believe it anyway So much more happened, but those were the highlights.
I was just wondering...when do I finish de-cluttering the school space? Will it be BEFORE the little people undo my work? I have all of the best intentions. They are GOOD intentions. God keeps finding other things to occupy my time. I have so little time now. Now, THAT sounds like a calming thing, doesn't it? Other things to do? More like... He would prefer I run my circus so the performers don't injure themselves and the animals don't stampede and the tent doesn't catch on fire The nice calming retreat of ditching papers and sorting through plies of manipulatives and books while not sneezing my nose across the room is just a fantasy as of late Actually, its my least favorite chore and I would like to get it over with...

Ummmmmmm...I have no idea when there will be time because mine is a mess, too. You have my empathy. Plus, I saw those lovely blogs a week or two ago with art supplies in canning jars all nicely labeled...Gorgeous. I will not covet. I will not covet. I will not covet.
Did I mention I turned 39 yesterday? I am watching my fertile years disappear, and find myself looking at these insanely crazy days much differently...sort of nostalgically...Even though I was up till 3am with a cranky 18 mos old who is teething molars, I was sappy and sad about it. That's weird for me, as usually I just get grumpy.
My dh's cousin (a mom with 10 homeschooled munchkins) brought me dark chocolate yesterday and a funny card with a 1950's mom on the cover making salad. Whatever today holds in store, I have chocolate now!

oh dear!
what an unwanted teaching moment (electrcity, trees, human anatomy (eyes), first aid, comminations....)
if it helps to know you have company, you can read about my no good, horrible day. I tell you, for about 15 minutes I completely lost what's left of my mind.
You just have to laugh. Because crying won't help much, kwim? SO I laugh. I slightly hysterical laugh sometimes, but laughing helps a lot of things.

Oh Martha! I think I would have sat down (probably on the poo, at that point) and just cried! Kudos to you for laughing, albeit hysterically. I hope you had a bcalmer next day???
I love that we can share days like this and laugh with each other. It somehow makes the worst moments better.

I actually have tears of laughter after reading about Martha's day ... bless you for sharing! you really brightened my day.
I am lifting up a prayer of peace, sanity and a life-saving sense of humor for all of you sainted mothers who persevere despite the odds.
(and late happy birthday, Books! 39 has been great for me so far; may it be the same for you.)
