Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We want to get our son a new computer to take with him to Switzerland......

can we just use a regular ol' computer from here (US) and get an adapter there?

I am guessing we can get an adapter here?

anyone know???

I need to order the PC today or tomorrow.

Stef....you were just there recently.....is that what you did?

Thanks!

are we talking laptop or desktop? you will need a converter to convert the current from 220 to 110. these come with laptops as part of the surge protector/cord. the adaptor is a small thing that goes on the plug to make it into a plug that will fit in switzerland. i know england is different than eastern europe, so i am not sure which one switzerland will have. they usually sell them in a pack of 5 or 6 different ones and they are labeled on the plug for which region they are.

for desk tops, i dont know what comes with them. we have had only laptops for a long time

My laptop (Dell) is dual voltage. You can see this in the fine print; it will say 110/220v, 50/60Hz. All I need is a plug adapter. Switzerland has the European two round prong plugs.

BTW, most cameras are also dual voltage - that makes it easy to recharge the batteries.

Chari, that is correct. I checked with my dh. We purchased a new HP before we moved over. It has dual voltage and I believe that most computers (as well as cameras as Nancy pointed out), have dual voltage. So all you need is the adapter which makes the American plug end look like a Swiss plug end. The world of electronics is beyond me ...
