Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dh is replacing my dying laptop and I'm rethinking the size. I currently have a 16 inch screen but am wondering if the smaller size of the 14 inch would be more convenient. OR is it just too small for blogging, etc. I guess I'm wondering what your preference is and why. Thank you.

I don't have a laptop but seems to me that it would be more a concern for keyboard size than screen size?

My dh and ds (age 21) just each got an Acer Aspire One Netbook with an 8 inch screen and they both absolutely love them. They are about the size of your average hardback book and run about $325. My son was even able to edit pictures via Picasa. The keyboard is obviously a bit smaller than a normal keyboard, but is manageable. They do not have a CD/DVD drive, but you can get one of those to plug in via USB.
Not really sure why I'm putting in a plug for this product. Just thought I'd share because I was impressed with it and had never heard of them. (Costco has them, although it is the cheaper model. The one with the 6 cell battery is best. I only found it at Tigerdirect.com)

I have an MSI Wind that I bought on Amazon. I love it. It is so light, has a great battery, and the keyboard is larger than the other netbooks. I have no trouble typing on it, but the others I tried in the computer store felt really awkward. The screen is LCD and nice and bright. No problem with the size.

I cart it around lots of places and it was a lifesaver when we went out to CO for dh's spinal evaluation in January. I can bring it along to ds' speech therapy at Kansas State University and read this forum in the waiting room! I would definitely recommend this netbook. I just get frustrated with Windows sometimes, as I'm a solid Mac lover, but that is an operating system complaint. If I could load the Mac OS onto the Wind, I'd be thrilled. To me, that's the only negative.

I have a 17" screen. It was a treat after my 14" screen. I'm certain it is not a necessity though. I do miss the smallness of my 14" laptop.

It is nice to be able to finally see a full page without squinting...and have room to arrange and re-arrange windows on my desktop (which I do frequently). I find...ahem...that as my eyes mature, shall we say, that the larger screen affords larger print and room which I appreciate. The keyboard is much more comfortable as well. I'm on a mac, btw.

I have a 17" screen. It is an HP Pavilion that we bought almost two years ago. I really love it and we take it everywhere. We did have to find a larger case, but even when we go on trips, we bring the computer with us.
