Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

How do you do finance discussions with your husband? Weekly, daily, monthly? Being a military wife, finances are always on the wife's shoulders (generally) and I am still trying to find the right way that will work..( we've been married 14 years this year, LOL, and I'm STILL trying to find my "best way". We only do one account so separate accounts are not an option. I guess I am thinking budget wise, like so much goes towards food.. in my house this is not under control, and for Lent I am diligently working on "a budget for food"
Clear as mud? Sorry.. thoughts rambling on my head... Thanks in advance.

Um, we don't do one. I run it and tell him how much he has as "free money". We have regular "this is what we want to do in the coming months" discussions, which works for us, we don't sit down with paper and hard figures, but we set money aside, if we want to...I think that this is an easier way of handling it when he is/was gone so much--you can talk on the phone about things alot easier than sending emails/letters back and forth with hard numbers, iykwim (and I think you do, lol)...

We're retired now (a year late April), and that has worked best for us, and continues to do so. With so many deployments, over the past ten years, it has been impossible for him to run things, or for him to really have much desire to have a "go" at things..make sense?

I doubt that that is helpful. Sorry.       13 yrs of marriage, all spent in the Army (DH is older than I am--he retired last April with 25yrs service)...a single year out, wellllll...lol.

Rachel

We probably do discussions quarterly, unless there's an unexpected and/or large expense we need to go over together.

We have two accounts but both are joint -- one is where the paycheck comes in and bills get paid from there; the other is for gas and groceries. Just works for us that way.

Maybe buy food using cash only might be an option for you?

Don't know if that answers your question, but hth.
