WHEN did I start wanting it all? (And why didn't I notice it sooner?)
After researching baby slings until I gave myself a headache, I realized my problem. I want it all.
I want a sling that will fit my baby (and myself and even my husband) perfectly without any back pain. One that will allow for breastfeeding and all sorts of comfy positions for baby. One that is easy to learn, to use and to lay baby down in. One that will fit the baby for years. One that is nice looking. Not too hot in the summer. Cozy in the winter. Not bulky but with lots of support. All (and probably more) at the best price possible.
Seriously, who am I kidding? WHEN did I decide that this is time well spent. Yes, I need to be an informed consumer and be a good steward...
But let's be serious, something has to give!
A lesson I hope to have finally learned for good- not overpaying for "good enough" is the new standard.

Blessings,
Tracey

Oh Tracey- I so know. This is what I do with curriculum. And my menu plans. And family vacations. And my housework schedules. And everything I buy online...

You might want to read a post by Jenn about a year ago about why do I make it so hard?. It speaks about this type of thing. I think the internet makes this hard.

Ugh, I did this today too! I drove myself (and my family) insane trying to find a house. One that is affordable, with city water/city sewer (instead of well and septic), gas or electric heat (not oil or propane), with a little land (like more than .2 acres?), with a good commute for dh. Oh and safe. That's important. (But what do you do when even the best school districts apparently have horrible heroin problems?)
THIS PERFECT HOUSE DOES NOT EXIST IN MY STATE.
I'm realizing I can't have it all, but I'm not sure what I'm willing to give up? Where do you draw the line?
Glad to know I'm not alone.

Wow- that's a great post! Thanks for linking it, Lisa- thanks for writing it, Jennifer. I am such an idealist. It can be a struggle to embrace what's good about that without embracing the natural discontentment that goes along with it. I need to find a balance between always searching around the corner for what (might) be better, and instead start practicing contentment for what's "good enough"-- I absolutely agree, Lisa- the internet makes it very very hard.

All I want to know is - did you find the right baby carrier? I bought one from here and I love it. I had worn out my last ring sling and I love this one because the rings are metal and don't slip. You can adjust the top rail independently of the bottom which helps keep the baby's back and shoulders tight even though you don't need to adjust the hiney part. The patterns are really nice (especially mine but I don't see it on the site so I can't post a picture ). The tail has two big pockets. It's definitely worth the price and satisfies all your descriptions...except maybe the one about fitting your husband.

In addition to the carrier requirements mentions in teh first post...
I need a sling I can breastfeed in and that doesn't hurt my back and that doesn't take a circus performer to get in and out of.
does that exist?
I'd even take it in a color other than purple or yellow.
