Last night I saw a commercial on television about Plan B, morning after pill. Let's forget the fact that I'm tired of seeing drugs advertised on television. Let's forget the fact that every girl in the commercial is young and portrayed as waking up in bed alone.

What really got me was that they claim that Plan B is not an "abortion pill", that it will not "terminate an existing pregnancy". It makes me wonder exactly how this pill supposed to prevent pregnancy without causing an abortion. Is it supposed to somehow trick your body into not releasing an egg? And you wonder what effect it might have on your baby if you are already pregnant.

I thought this was a difference in definitions. We undestand that "conception" happens when a sperm joins with an egg. Medically, conception is defined as happening at implantation. If a drug prevents implantation, then the medical community does not see it as causing an abortion. The same logic is used with BC pills.
