I am really feeling the need for some inspiration and concrete advice to get back on track in my vocation as mother. I love Sally Clarkson and have read Seasons of a Mother's Heart a few times.
I have her two latest in my amazon cart, The Mom Walk and The Ministry of Motherhood. Has anyone read both? Which one would you buy first? Of course, I would like to buy both and probably will at some point. I just need to pick one for now.
Thanks!

Well, Molly, I haven't read them both. But I am half-way through The Mom Walk and am REALLY enjoying it. The book has been tremendously encouraging for me...as well as inspiring to me in my walk with God as a mother.

I'm about 1/2 way through the Mom Walk too, and I really like it. It's very uplifting and encouraging. Wish I had the other one too, Molly, so I could compare.

Okay, so have you both read Season's of a Mother's Heart? How does the Mom Walk compare? I guess I am looking for the next level of encouragement and practical advice and not necessarily more of the same, if that makes sense.
I may just have to buy both.

No, I haven't read Season's of a Mother's Heart, but I'm next in line for it at the library, so if you want to wait a week or two, I'll have them both soon!

Oh, I don't want to wait! But, I should be focused on my spiritual reading anyway. Then I can dive into the practical, mother nurture stuff.
Thanks!

Personally speaking, "Seasons of a mother's heart" really spoke to me at a very difficult time of my life. Shortly afterward I met Sally in person and had a very long conversation with her. She is a very beautiful woman filled with a gracious heart! I would read anything she writes because it is always so uplifting. Did you know she writes a blog? Yep, she does.

Molly~
Did you get anything yet??
If you haven't decided, I think you should go with The Mom Walk. The Mission of Motherhood is very inspirational and I love all her stories, but it's written more to convince people of the importance of the call of motherhood. And, "convince" isn't exactly the right word, but I'm just being quick-quick here.
The Mom Walk is taking you deeper into the sacrificial aspects of motherhood, relying on God's grace. It's quite beautiful, and I have prayed her prayers in there several times in the past couple months. I had to return it to the library today and I'm sad
Now, I'm off to request Season's of a Mother's Heart.

I bought both! Had to do something uplifting with that tax refund.
But Suzanne, the second book is not the Mission of Motherhood, but the Ministry of Motherhood. It is brand-new. I have the Mission of Motherhood and found it to be as you said, addressed to a different audience.
I am reading the Mom Walk. It has been my primary Lenten reading which I wasn't sure about at first as it isn't a Catholic spirituality book. But I am so glad I chose to read it! It is very uplifting. She draws you in so well to her own experiences to illustrate each aspect of the "walk" and then so beautifully leads you to a resolution and prayer. I have cried many nights while reading it.
I will let you all know about the Ministry of Motherhood when I get to it.
