Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So...someone, who shall remain nameless but she knows who she is, just told me to join Twitter.

So I did.

Is anyone else on there?

Amy said it was like facebook but without the extras. Just the "what I am doing right now" part.

I am not sure if you can comment on others status? I would think so....

still trying to figure it out...

I'm on it as kctex. It's like having a conversation more than facebook. I like it. It gives a window into people's daily lives if they tweet often. I use tweetdeck to see and respond to all posts. It's interesting. I'll have to see who else I've got on there as following. I think I'm missing some of y'all.

I just joined twitter so that I can tweet my dd's published writings and my blog posts at Love Notes for Teens. I may also tweet online finds related to mothering, education, administration, and being Catholic.

If interested, I'm there as AngieMc6.

ETA: link to name

Love,

I'm SallyThomasNC. I like Twitter -- it's much simpler and less distracting than Facebook. I follow a variety of news sources as well as individual people, and Twitter is a great way to take in all the headlines at a glance, besides catching up with people.

I also have my blog set up to tweet itself, which is often (but not always) the only twittering I do.

I read somewhere that Twitter is to blogging as texting is to emailing. I can see that. I agree with Sally, it is very simple and straight-forward networking. Another thing I like about it is that is has a climate and acceptence of the...

impersonal

...more than following blogs and becoming involved in the blogging community, from my experience. So I use it to scan my public interests (Catholic news, Arizona sports, talk radio, foodie stuff, etc.), to share my dd's public writing, and to share my public blog. Some do choose to use it to share personal matter and/or to build businesses, etc., and I do enjoy seeing friends there in brief (especially since I don't Facebook.) For my personal stuff, I'll stick with texting (which also fits me to a T), email, and (to an extent) this community .

Thanks, Sally.

Love,

Yes, I don't have the sense of EVERYONE I know witnessing EVERY thing I say, which is what I dislike about Facebook. I have it, mostly for something else to post my blog entries to and to shadow my teenagers, who also have it, but I strenuously avoid FB conversation, unless it's just really, really, really trivial, and even then I don't go for it much.

I like the impersonal nature of Twitter, and the fact that if people are getting into knock-down-drag-out fights there, I don't ever see it. I know very little about how to use it, which suits me just fine . . .

FYI--On Facebook, you can decide which of you friends will see your post. You can either put friends into lists and choose a particular list or just go through and check the ones individually if you want to post something for only select people to see.

This is true, Lindsay, yet as Sally said, twitter by its nature is impersonal. Somehow, this is comforting and a good match for me...nothing against Facebook at all. It's just that I think it is pretty cool to be able to use this tool to network, for me, primarily about content rather than relationship building/connecting.

And all you fab bloggers...do consider tweeting for those who don't want to do a blog reader (like me.)

Love,

Here's the direct link to my profile since several have mentioned to me that they can't find me by searching the name (I've been eager to find an opportunity to use the scratching head guy .)

We can learn together...and now you do .

On the learning curve, I asked my techie dd how long I should expect to fumble around wasting time on this until it becomes time efficient and effective. She said it took her about a week to get it integtated into her social media stuff. I'm finding it pretty easy to navigate and am figuring out all the @,#, and other shorthand. I'm also figuring out what to follow, who puts out a ton of tweets/who doesn't, etc. Following and unfollowing is a breeze:).

Love,
