The gift that recieved the best reception here was to my grandmother. Health issues have kept her more home bound recently so she hasn't been able to get to daily Mass and Rosary often. We gave her our family Rosary. I recorded us saying the Rosary with each mystery. The kids watercolored pictures to go with each mystery and add some reflections to the back of each picture. I added lined pages for her reflections, bound it and made a padded fabric cover.
She has called twice about how much she loves it. yeah!

Leeann-That is such a sweet gift idea. It must be so lonely for older people who can't get out to have to pray by themselves all the time. I bet she loves your "company".
I made my toddler one of Charlotte's quilties for Christmas. He loves to have a soft blanket to sleep with, although until now, he hasn't been partial to just one. And he loves buttons. If he finds a button on your shirt or his own, he immediately begins to play with it and puts his thumb in his mouth and his head on your shoulder. Lately, he's been sleeping with one of my cardiagans. So his "quiltie" has a big button sewed tightly to the middle of each bandana square. He trailed it around all day yesterday and spent more time cuddling in my lap than ever. Every time one of his brothers touched it, he scrunched it all up into his own lap and said "mine". It was so very cute.

I was just typing up a post about the surprise hits of the day! I made a batch of Danielle Bean's homemade play dough for each child in their favorite color tied up with some plastic cookie cutters and they have been going nuts over it! They actually stopped opening gifts yesterday to sit down and play with it! They kept asking me "and when this gets old...you can just MAKE MORE?" Guess I have been depriving them! 
I think this will become a regular Christmas tradition!

I don't know about the best gift I gave, but one of the best I received came from my dear SIL, Charlotte (Matilda) who is so talented!
She made me an ice-cloth for my migraine headaches!  I always put ice in a kitchen towel around my neck, so she took a towel, sewed one end closed and put ribbons on the cloth so I can fill it with ice, tie the ribbons shut and not have the ice spill out while I'm walking around the house.
And since I indulged in chocolate chip cookies yesterday  I'm getting to try it out now...

LeeAnn that was absolutely brilliant AND thoughtful!!  It is a perfect example of the true meaning of Christmas.
I have an aunty who has been very sick but has wanting to drink stinging nettle tea daily but life has been so busy for her..so since I received her as my secret santa I bought a great ceramic rooster cannister (she likes quirky, country things in her house) and packed it FULL of organic stinging nettle. I bought a herbal mug with a wire mesh insert to put the nettle to draw and brew..
Some great gift giving ideas there ladies, it's great to see!

As most of you know, Louisiana got snow this year and my good friend Kimberly blogged about the neatest Christmas gift they received this year from their neighbor:
"Neighbor K had taken a fabulous photograph of our house after our “snowstorm” on the 11th. It shows the beautiful blanket of white on our rooftop. The sky is gray and soft. The snow undisturbed. Just perfect.
She then took the photo, had it enlarged to 8×10 and framed just for us."
You might have to live closer to the equator to fully appreciate this gift (I know Colleen does  ) but the last time it snowed (where we could actually make a snowball) was in the early 70's. We were beyond excited.

I made a collage of photos of our neighborhood in the snow (a rare thing here to have so much) on the Costco photo center website. I had a poster size made (20x30) for only $10. My dad loves nature photography, so he'll enjoy that.
My 11yo really liked all the black, white & red fashion accessories we gave her: a coat, scarf, hat, hairbands, purse, belt and tights. She felt like we really paid attention to what she likes.

My scrapbooking frames were a HUGE hit on both sides of the family. I made SIXTEEN 8 by 10 frames, as it would be in a scrapbook. I put together clip art and logos, words, stickers, etc. of what I felt makes each family a unique family. I put pictures of their church, or logos from their schools, places of employment or careers, hobbies or vacation places they love to go, etc. I put their names on them, and it was just something each one treasured. They passed them all around so everyone could see everyone elses, and thanked me profusely for the creativity and thought and really hard work that Id put into the gift. I was SO relieved, and it blessed my socks off that my thought and love had really gone into them, and that they were much appreciated and treasured. I LOVE when I can do that! So that was one of my greatest blessings of all this Christmas!
My husband is one of 9 kids, and I'm one of 6, so I ended up doing 16 frames, and it was a LOT of work, but also sheer JOY to do them! What I noticed most of all this Christmas was that even though, or probably BECAUSE people had to cut way back on gifts because of the current economic climate, this was the BEST Christmas in terms of giving, and receiving gifts that were more heart felt and thoughtful because of the need to be resourceful. It's as it should be. I can see the BLESSING in some of the difficuly people are having to endure right now. Finding the blessing and joy, and HOPE is always how the Lord would have it.
What a wonderful Christmas this has been indeed!

Two things that were very well received - the gift boxes from Monks Bread and dd's Corolle baby doll Lila. I really expected her to dump the baby doll when Grammy showed up with her Samantha doll. But last night when I was thinking of this post I realized the baby doll was with her in the laundry basket and Samantha was naked on the bed!
The Monk's Bread will probably become a tradition.
