Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My mother received a digital picture frame and we have found it so delightful to share all the 24 grandchildren and other pictures, that I'm giving one to my mother-in-law.

It's wonderful! I have to be really thankful for inventions that help people like me who rarely ever get their digital pictures printed or scrapbook albums or anything! Now with a few clicks I have all my pictures shared for my MIL!

I can't wait to give it to her, but now I'm thinking dh needs one at work and we need one here so our "album" can be on display!

A talkative little elf told me that my children have all chipped in to buy their father and I one of these. I can't wait.

Magical memories transformed by technology...

I was thinking about one for my parents, too. Here at home, we have a slideshow (screensaver) on the computer of our pictures so it is just as good as the digital frame. It is one of our favorite pastimes to sit and watch the slideshow.

Would you mind sharing the brand and kind that you bought? I was thinking it sounds like a perfect idea for my Dad but wouldn't want to get one that would be frustrating for him to try to use. Thanks!

Charlotte, it was a Costco purchase. I was being iffy because I didn't want to spend over $100, and this one, SmartPants at the store was $15 off. So that worked for me.

I will say the instructions weren't detailed, so some things I had to figure out for myself, but it was mighty easy. It can plug into your computer, but I also think a thumb drive can work to transfer it over. I haven't worked out all the options, but I am pleased so far. I expected it to be an all afternoon project and I did a transfer of over 100 photos (picking and choosing) in an hour.

Thanks Jen! We have been thinking about one for my parents too! They resist anything technology but might like this.

That's my parents exactly and why I haven't gotten them one.

My dad is happy with a 6-pack of beer, some ribeye steaks, and a 5 lb. box of boudin.

Oma sits there and says, "That's so nice, honey, but you should have bought yourself something nice."

Their 50th wedding anniversary is in 4 years. Perhaps I'll have them trained by then.

My MIL resists change and technology, too. She has a computer and can't open the emails that send pictures her way. So the computer sits there.

That's why I'm doing the frame. If we input all the pictures, all she needs to do is have a place to put it and plug it in. It can play all day if she wants. On and off switch is really all she needs to know.

I like these....but they seem to be pretty expensive. Has anyone found any that are only about $20? Have the prices gone down this year at all?

And, how do you get your photos on it?

thanks

I have no seen them that low. Smaller frames and less memory will be cheaper.

The one I linked has software that comes from the frame to your computer (so it can do multiple computers). You can easily copy pictures with the software. Or you can load up a memory card (like the ones for digital cameras), Compact Flash card, USB port, or a flash drive.
