MY DH( ) found a really neat Advent calendar at Target....I wish I could give you a link, but willdescribe, instead.
There are several styles-allon sale for $19.99. Made of wood, with 25 doors-with empty spaces behind each day.
We picked the Christmas Tree one,as we felt it would grow with the DC.
Here are some of the things we are putting inside each door....
~A Lindt chocolate ball,wrapped in my favorite Bible verse-Isaiah 40 v.31.
~A rolled up piece of paper, that says, "Make dinner for FR. blank, on Dec.5."
~A rolled up piece of paper that says," Take the church secretary a plate of cookies and a thermos of hot cocoa on a day of your choice."
~ Invitation to invite one friend to Christian Family skate night.
~A request to do a chore for their brother/sister.
~A gift card for a free movie rental-agreed upon by ALL family members.
~ a request to choose a Bible verse, and read to the family at dinner.
~A coupon good for one trip to our favorite Ice Cream Shoppe.
~ A request to surprise Nana with a new drawing or painting for her fridge!
~ A ticket to have the honor of serving at the Soup Kitchen.
The possiblities are endless!!!

Oh, I've seen those calendars, but they're $27.99 by me. I love them, but it's not in my budget this year. I'm hoping there are still some left for clearance!
Our Target also had one shaped like a church, and another like a big pile of wrapped gifts.
Enjoy!!

Hey, Melanie, while shopping online at Target, I saw that they had some of these on sale for 19.00 and there is free shipping available (forget how much you need to purchase.)
Bella, I'm so happy that you and your dh found these and that your advent is off to a wonderful start (read your other topic reply.) If you have a chance, what kind of quality would you say these advent calendars are? Do you think they'll hold up for more than a season? I know you can't read into the future but since you have one in your hands, I was wondering your assessment.
Love,

Thanks, Angie.
I do think the quality is good-considering the price. While we have made it clear to the DC. that it is *not* a toy....we do anticipate having to clue some of the knobs on,or fixing a henge(sp?) now and then. Overall, I do think it will be worth the money, and last us for years to come.
Does that help?
Melanie,we saw the church one, too. I liked it, but didn't care for the color of the roof...
