Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My beloved gave me some funds for my birthday last week.
I'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow so that's a whopping $10.

I have no idea what to do with the remaining $40.

I was rattling off all the things I've been wanting to run out and get:
Explode the Code for K
fancy pink undies for newly potty trained B
hangers (why are they always breaking?!)

and which point dh told me I was forbidden to spend the money before telling him what it was for since I'm obviously incompetent at following the directive to spend it on myself.

So what to buy...
I honestly have no clue....
thoughts?

Pedicure?

A nice new nursing bra? (I know I will need new ones should we be blessed again)...

Or, and this is another idea...maybe use the $$ as a stipend to have a Mass said on your own behalf? Esp as you are expecting/a M.o.M?

I dunno if you can have a mass celebrated for yourself...but I'd try it...I think your DH would give you a big KUDO for that...which saint was it that said something about one mass said during our lives was worth far more than those when we have died?

I think that that is what I will ask DH for, for my bday next year, now that I think of it...

Rachel

Do you have any hobbies like sewing, knitting, etc? If so, maybe something for that.

HOw about books, gardening stuff (flowers, plants), tea and/or new tea pot, pretty table cloth, seasonal decorations, new shirt or other new clothing item, make-up or other beauty supplies, etc. These are a few things that I like to treat myself to with extra money.

I love Bath and Body Works. You can buy some hand soap pumps that are yummy smelling (especially this time of year they have some fun special edition smells) and then you plant them all around the house in the various bathrooms and kitchen and you feel like you didn't just spend it on yourself...but for everyone's benefit too.

Other ideas...pajamas...I never have real pajamas, always an old shirt and shorts, that could be nice. And I definitely second any hobby stuffs. Maybe make a photobook online at Shutterfly or the like for yourself (but still it's like for the family ). Or a new kitchen appliance - mixer, can opener, tortilla maker...something like that maybe???

Have fun!

Books are always good. How about treating yourself to a couple of hours at somewhere like Border's. You can get a couple of books to browse and buy a coffee or my favorite a Creme Kula(no idea how to spell that! ).

Or, I like to buy "frivolous" things for a new baby which I consider really for myself: a really cute outfit, a new pair of cute Robeez, a nursing cover, nursing shirt, etc. Things I don't "need" but would buy if I had a few extra bucks.

It's funny, I always can think of things to buy, but rarely is it just for me.
