Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We just got a beautiful new imac but having been a microsoft family until now I feel like we are learning to drive all over again. OK for my questions: how do you copy and paste from the web something that has text and images. On microsoft I just rightclicked then highlighted clicked copy then went to word and clicked paste. When I try to do this on the imac i just get text. I can go onto paste special but only to get the images separately. In other words its a 2 step operation! Please tell me there's a quicker way, especially when your downloading books from mainlesson say!
Next question! On microsoft publisher you can make a frame and edit it with online picture images can you do this on the imac or do you only get to use their clipart in frames?
Question three:I love the look of ical but I can't see anything that looks like"notes" to modify lesson javascript:AddSmileyIcon('')plans..has the new imac taken that function away?
In case you're wondering there are many features of our new computer i am already thrilled with, iphoto, itunes for my audibles, being able to "move things around' easily and the big one much less risk of viruses.Sooo if I can just get help from you computer literate ladies on these little teething problems...javascript:AddSmileyIcon('')

Alison - I was going through the site and realized no one ever responded to your question....give me a little while - I'm busy finishing up the remains of the school day - and I'll try to get back to your questions!

I love macs!

Or...perhaps another mac user out there will be able to help you more before I get back here tonight.

I like to use clipmarks when I need to "clip" pages and print them as they are with text and graphics. I can clip small bits of articles or whole pages with graphic images and blog it, share it, email it or print it. It's a handy little widget to add! It sits right up on my Firefox menu tab between my google search box and url box and I just click the little paper clip and clip away and then it asks me what to do with my clips. Handy. Also free! Other than that I don't know another way to copy text and images like you're describing. There may be a way - I just don't know it.

Are you asking about manipulating graphic images off the web, or your own images? In Word? Photoshop? I don't think I understand your question. sorry. I don't know what you mean by a frame. Are you trying to do something in Word? It's a Microsoft product so it should work the same for you as it did on your PC - the functions should be the same. If I'm bringing an image into Word, I just drag it in and size it/edit right in Word.

Your ical should have the notes function...Open your ical. On the bottom right should be a little "i" button -click it and the info drawer should open. Select a cell/appointment/lesson block. You should see a word entitled "notes" - click on that word. Now you can type away! I recently typed up a tutorial for how to use iCal to generate lesson plans. It might help you a bit.

Not sure if I helped much, Alison. I don't speak Microsoft very well, so it's hard for me to understand what you're trying to do on the mac.

You might consider checking into your local Apple shop. They offer classes so you can get the most out of your mac. I've never been able to take the classes, but anytime I have had a question about anything, I just call them and they've been really helpful! They could likely help you WAY more than me!

Oh Jenn...wow! I love the tutorial. And thanks for the link to clipmarks.
We got our new imac this spring but I haven't had much of a chance to fiddle around with it. This looks like it'll be right up my planning alley.

Allison,
Are you using Appleworks or Microsoft Office for Mac? Just curious. I haven't been able to copy and paste a text with images either but, it is possible to drag and drop the images from the web into a word document both in Appleworks and in Microsoft Office for Macs.

Maybe this will help you a little

Thanks so much Jennifer for your help + advise. I haven't been onto clipmarks because our broadband is all used up until Monday and we're down to very sloooow dial-up til then! Can't even get to your blog(big sigh!)I'm such a patient person!!!

Natalia I'm using Microsoft Office for Macs.

oh yes and the frame thing. What I'm trying to explain is making your own frame for a word document using internet clipart...rather than the frames they have done for you.

thanks once again

Another Mac question: how do you manually eject a CD? I've got a Mac Mini and I have managed to get a CD stuck in it. I may have to take it to the Apple store. I usually NEVER have problems with a Mac, honestly...
