The VA has finished our claim!!!!! In our conversation today, they said it has been finalized, and is "completed". Oh, thanks be to God!!!
We will be getting a letter (at some point in the next week or so), telling us the details. We only live an hour or less away from the regional office, so we're not sure "how" long it will take (it "could" be here tomorrow, or Monday)...but sometimes the money gets deposited before the letter arrives...
Oh, mercy, I need this...the money in the bank and the letter in hand.
PLEASE pray that the decision is a good one for us...
and that it all arrives soon...

FRIDAY UPDATE:
We clarified things with the VA:
DH's disability has been rated at 80%. We will get the backpay on Monday--enough to pay down some debt, and to get some of the things we have been putting off. This is just the VA money, not the money from the army for the combat related compensation--that will come at some point down the road.
I am so ready to throw up...no, just excited....and relieved (I'm sure ykwim).
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your prayers...and an especial thank to those who have supported us in other ways, these past few months. With out the prayers and love of our online family, we'd have been sunk, seriously, months ago, just from the strain. Losing Ava, and struggling this way, has been such a trial by fire for us...and thanks be to God, we have made it thru to the otherside...
I'm going to see about offering a Mass (or ten!) up for all of you, and your intentions...

Well, we're planning on paying off debt, rolling over the $$ (with part of it), and spending the rest of the backpay in "preparations" in case the economy goes as bad as DH and I are concerned it might (these would be things we would want to do anyway, just moved up on the priority list).
We also found out that they for some reason didn't get the dd's soc sec numbers, so we'll end up getting back pay from May 1 til whenever, on them (at $150/ea, well,
it will go for paying off more debt).
