Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Forgive me for being so lazy, but I searched for "baked beans" and I got 64 threads. I don't have time right now to go through all of them, and I need the recipe for a party next week. I might later, but just in case someone knows exactly which thread contains a good baked beans recipe, could you please tell me which one?

Thank you for your help!!

DO you have access to Cook's Illustrated? the books or magazine?
Just made their baked beans from Sept/Oct '96. I used a piece of ham with a bone in for the meat and it is good.Shredded the meat after cooking.
They do not recommend a crock pot or going vegetarian on this one.
Baked at 200' for 7-9 hours.
If you need the recipe, I can send it to you.

Argh. I've sold my '96 and don't think I kept a copy of that recipe.

Ooh, I just found one that I think I'll base mine on. I'll incorporate your ham suggestion but substitute a smoked ham hock that I already have in my freezer. I *do* need to use my crockpot -- can't baby it in the oven as I need it for other dishes.

Thanks, Viv!
