Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I went with my oldest son to visit a new friend of his from school. They are Catholic, and she is an OB/GYN. We started talking about the Planned Parenthood clinic blocks from their house. I asked her stance on the pill as an ob/gyn. (dangerous waters, I know for a first meeting) She does not offer it to her patients. When she was challenged about that by the hospital where she works, she fought it. She didn't use faith, or that is an abortificant as her aurguements. What she won on, is the first part of the Hippocratic oath "Due no harm". She was able to show that the pill causes harm to the woman while not "curing" anything. (in most cases) So prescribing it would violate her oath as a dr. Same with IUD's.

We live near each other, and yet this never made any ripples in the news(while drs being fired for refusing ABC has made the news, and the fact our parish had to stop offer health insurance because they wouldn't pay for the pill made the news) Drs need to know that they can refuse to prescribe ABC without jeopardizing their jobs!

I tried nudging her into sharing her story, but she doesn't want to make waves. I think I convinced her -though to register as a pro-life ob/gyn.

I will pray for her.

Wow - what a find. A truly pro-life ob-gyn. Are there doctors being fired for not prescribing? I thought that was just pharmacists. Encourage her to register with onemoresoul.com - I always check them out when looking for a doctor. We need to pray for these brave ob/gyns.

That's wonderful.

Just a note -- when I was looking for a new OB/Gyn and Pedia for my kids, I checked the onemoresoul site and couldn't find any listed for our area, so I asked at our local Catholic homeschooling group.

Several moms had suggestions for me, including one for a pediatrician who's willing to order the vaccines. None of the suggestions are Catholics, but they included a homeschooling dad who has 6 kids himself and a Christian dr. who has no problem with NFP and openness to life. I wish everyone would register with onemoresoul! But Catholic homeschoolers are great sources of info as well.
