Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm feeling more than ever like I need to re-group. Our family business needs more of my attention and although I get so much enjoyment from my online life, I feel as though everything is suffering from my being spread too thin.

For the good of my family, I feel like I'm going to have to take the summer off from blogging and email groups. I hate to do it, but I wonder whether I might just come back with a fresh perspective and better focus. In the meantime, my family really needs my time to ensure our financial health, and to more thoughtfully plan our lessons for what is sure to be a really busy 08-09.

I'm scared.    I love my online friendships and the wonderful virtual communities that they have come from. Lately I'm feeling that my real life needs my undivided attention. I feel as though real life is trying to take us (the Gadbois clan) in another direction. I'm not sure if complete banishment of my online life is the answer, or if I can manage to balance it better...

<sigh>

Have any of you had this experience? What worked for you?

Blessings,

I'll miss you, Nissa! Praying that you are able to focus, regroup, and find that balance for your family. Every family is different, and so is every season for each family. So you don't have to decide on "banishment" or "not" right now. You feel called to pull away for now. I am sure that as summer goes on, the Holy Spirit will guide and direct you all as to what is best. Personally, I try not to think to far into the future. Because things always change. So what works for me is to pull away when I am overwhelmed or too busy here, and to read more when I have more time. A timer or "time slot" for reading helps sometimes. Also only reading until kids get up or after all work/laundry is done holds me accountable when I'm slipping.

Praying for you during this time, and praying for that baby!

Nissa, I can understand.   I have to take periodic breaks just to get myself back in balance.

Once you've cut off for a little while to get perspective back, maybe you can try timing your internet time. Several of my friends do this.

It's all about timing. Which obviously I know nothing of right now LOL
I too need to step back sometimes, my dh calls me his computer wife.
I think things will change soon. We will have no computer for a while and will be getting a new one soon. I will have to there is just too much wasted time.
But I love this forum so much...
I really need to just reorganize my time .

Hopefully when you get everything squared away you will join us again.
God Bless.

Hi Nissa! -
I think I've been where you feel you are now. For me, it was about managing my online time better. When, and for how long, and choosing where online I spent my time.
I chose to focus my attention and use that span of time, when on the computer, to places that lift my spirit, encourage or inspire me, or educate me.
I feel like as long as I am reeping beneficial rewards in some way, from my time or energy I invest at the computer, than it's good for me, and for my family as a whole. But managing the AMOUNT of TIME, and the best time to do so, was the key for me.
So for you, I would ask yourslef if when you get off the computer, if you are feeling like it was truly time worthlessly wasted, or if you came way with something positive, encouraged, or feeling spiritually lifted, etc.
Maybe it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Or maybe a complete break is what you need afterall. Pray on it, and listen to the truths your heart speaks. You know? And I will pray for the right answers and clarity for you, to come to you as well!
Hang in there, and LOOK UP!
