We got to see a sneak preview of Prince Caspian last night! Oh my goodness, I was speechless...and for those of you who know me, that's like BIG! I just sat there stunned. It was so visually beautiful, so powerful and masculine, yet so lovely. My family unequivocally declared it better than the first and their favorite movie ever.
AND yes, there is a hint of Susan and Caspian falling in love and a kiss...but the movie's focus is really the same as the plot of the book, and the effects and cinematography are AMAZING! 
Get your tickets and take your families!
Oh, it's long...my 4yo wanted to go home 2 hrs in. He made it through an 8pm show that lasted until almost 11pm, but it wasn't easy. This one is a bit more complex than Wardrobe and may be harder for the younger set. Go early or leave the preschoolers behind for this one.

So glad to read your review Colleen. We are heading out to see the movie in about 15 minutes, so your timing is perfect. My children just cannot wait to see this. They are so excited, I have a feeling we'll be seeing it more than once.

Thanks for the review! My dd is taking 2 special friends with her for a birthday outing...but her bday isn't for 3 more weeks. So I hope they can hold off until then to see it! I know it'll still be in theaters though!

We are excited about the movie over here! Would you believe we have not read the book yet!!  Should I be mean and make my children wait until we read the book to go see the movie or should we just go see it?

My daughter is going with her book club this afternoon -one of the mom's called around a month or so ago looking for a group rate and ended up finding a theater that is letting them go for free. They needed some promo "school" groups to take pictures with their books and send to Disney. They are looking forward to it. The rest of the family will probably go this weekend.

Thomas and dh are going this afternoon -- he earned being the first of the kids to see it as he read the book (he's my reluctant reader, so this was a BIG deal!).
The rest of us will wait till it calms down a bit ... or maybe we'll go one day next week .....

My kids have bombarded the Narnia website and watched trailer after trailer...
They saved up their own money to pay for their tickets and they offered to pay my gas to drive them there.  We're going tonight and man! I'll tell ya, they are cleaning my house today with gusto so I don't change my mind!

What do you all think about movies of this type on the big screen for small kids? My 3.5yo almost never watches movies and we don't have a television. We got the first Narnia movie for the first time when we were all really sick this winter and ds loved it. I was worried about it being too intense with the battle scenes and witch and everything but he watched it twice and seemed to handle it fine. We've read the books aloud and he loved them. Dh would sort of like to take ds to the theater. Other than the length do you think a small child will have trouble with that big and loud of a movie experience?

My 11 year old son is going tonight
9he is very psyched!)the USCCB gave it an adult and adolescence rating and most reviews say it is pretty violent. This site outlines the specifics about the violence so you can discern what ages to bring:

We are so excited about this here. My husband read this with my 13yo, 7 yo, and almost 5yo. My reluctant 7yo reader was found on more than one occasion "sneaking" up to bed with the book hidden under his pajama top. We pretended not to notice because we were so tickled that we finally found something that motivated him to read! Hopefullly, dh will be taking them to see it this weekend!

Dh and son had a blast and said it was much better than the first (altho the kiss at the end grossed 9yo ds out completely!). Dh and Thomas both said it wasn't as violent as the first and that definitely our 5 yo could see it.
I'm thinking we need to go next week during the day as a field trip ... after all, Rick said there was a school group there today!

This film reminded me of a book by C. S. Lewis.  But not quite. I'm such a cranky purist.

I saw it with N (14) this afternoon, and I confess to agree with everything MacBeth wrote about in her blog (and some things she didn't mention).
All in all, it was a good movie, but def. too violent for my 5- and 6-yos's.
One thing that I particularly enjoyed was the reuse of particular elements from the LWW score.
