Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thanks for the welcome ladies! Sorry I didn't make it back sooner. The holy-days have been very busy and hectic!

Shawna, I don't know if I remember meeting you. I definitely remember your hubby though. He used to babysit us! I feel like I know you through Chari though!

Hey, Clara!

Some people here read daily, some a couple of times a week..some only on weekends.....and some only when they have a question .....browse around and see where you would like to fit in.

I doubt you have ever met Shawna....but your parents have been sending them Christmas pictures over the years...so she has watched all of you grow up ....I share photos, too.

And, I promise, if you come...no, WHEN you come to see OUR mountain....we will share tea time with Shawna. How is THAT for an enticement???

Love ya all,

Aunt Chari

Hello Ladies! I'm Nancy. I live in Southern Virginia with my husband and 6 children. 5 boys- 13, 10, 8, 6, & 3years old and 1 girl 5years old. I have been transplanted to this part of VA from the Shenandoah Valley and not a day goes by that I don't miss home.

We have homeschooled since the very beginning. Right now I am running a Cottage School for our homeschool group. It is a great group, however, there are no Catholic homeschoolers for miles and miles and I really miss the companionship of other catholic moms and children for myself and my kids. However, I am getting my moneys worth out of the deck of Friendly Defenders!

I have felt like the ember left on the hearth down here and am looking foward to this forum to "light my fire".

Thanks!
Nancy

Hello! I'm a military wife and I homeschool our seven children, ages 8 months to 12 years. We are stationed in the Pacific Northwest for the time being but have lived in a lot of places. It's been a challenge to homeschool amid deployments, moves, and births.

My approach to homeschooling is mainly classical, but I draw from many different philosophies. I'm looking forward to participating, and learning from all of you.

My name is Mary. I have been married to my husband Mike for 15 years this March. We live in Texas and have been blessed with 5 daughters and 2 sons. The five girls came first then the two boys. We always tell the curious folks at the grocery store that since we have five girls we are now working on our 5 boys. Our oldest will be turning 13 next month, and the youngest is 4 months old. We have been homeschooling from the beginning. I have never been on any message board, forum, chat group or any other internet creation. I don't even know all the names for themso please bear with me as I learn. I am looking forward to meeting all of you.
Blessings,
Mary

Welcome Heliodora and Mary! Thanks for your introductions.

No worries about being new to online communication, Mary. If you have any questions, just ask. This page (clink in the blue hyperlink) is a good start on the technical end of things. This page can help to figure out how to jump into the never-ending discussion. Hope this helps!

Love,

Just how long has the board been going? Actually I would love to know who else has been here that long? I'm impressed.

These boards have only been here since January of 2005.

The original yahoogroups was started by in Nov or Dec of 1998. I, myself, joined in April of '99. So, for me that is 9 years in April.

Which means Aidan will be nine in June....since I joined just before he was born.

Erin...let's start a new thread for this topic.....it will be fun. Have we ever done this before?

Howdy,
My name is Tammy Baumander and my family and I recently moved from Gainesville, FL to Greenville, SC. I have 3 children from 8 to 18mo.. My 8yr daughter is currently doing Seton and I am curious about other methods/styles. My 4yr boy is just learning to write and is anxious to learn to read (right now he has "looking time" instead of reading time). I am very disorganized and am scared of juggling an at-home business and a curriculum that is not "laid out" for me. Please excuse my lack of technical prowess, I am learning slowly and my computer guru, Sussette, is still in FL...
I am looking forward to learning with you all.
Yours in Christ,
Tammy

Welcome, Tammy!

We have a lot of resources here.....it may feel overwhelming at first...but, dig in! It is like finding a new friend who has so much in common you feel like old friends right away....and please, let us know if you have any questions or need any help!

I have been reading the forum for awhile and am now just getting on here to introduce myself. Shame on me! Anyway, I am a mom to five girls and three boys. The oldest is 19 and is at Christendom College. I was homeschooling everyone but this year we moved to Texas and put most of our children in the parish school. I am now just homeschooling my five year old. I have homeschooled some or all of my children for the past six years. Dh is in the Army and we have been moving around. My 8 and 10 year old daughters are asking to be homeschooled next year. I am really happy about that. Despite valid reasons for them being in school this year, I am glad that they are still wanting to come back home.

My hobbies are reading, crafts, horses, and running/walking. My dream is to live on a little homestead surrounded by my children (and horses, goats, and chickens) and close enough to Church to get to daily Mass. I enjoy reading what others have to share and hope to be able to participate more.
