I've decided to try and post a photo a day for April. I received my fantastic camera for Christmas and April will make the 4th month I've owned it.  Time to really learn how to use it! I admit I'm inspired by folks like Amanda Soule's 30 Days of the Everyday and Jane at POSY's English version. So over at the S/V Mari Hal-O-Jen I've posted a bit of an invitation for others to join me in April's Shower of Photos.
Would you like to join in the fun? I've laid out my personal details (my camera, people who inspire me, a book I'm going to try to follow) in the post itself, but I'd love to have others join in too! Set your own goals for the month or focus on a theme that interests you (spring flowers, macro photos, portraits, or perhaps the color green?) or simply have uploading one photo a day as your goal! Goodness knows that's all I'll be hoping to accomplish some April days! 
I hope to make April's Shower of Photos a little bit of Loveliness to look forward to each day, won't you join me?

It's a great idea, Jennifer! I'm looking forward to seeing what you upload. I would love to join, but I know myself and I fear that I wouldn't even post/upload once a week . We'll see.

Kirsten, my camera that I received for Christmas is the whole motivating factor behind this too. It is too awesome of a camera to not know how to use it fully! I'm so glad you decided to jump in!
Mary, I wrote and erased and wrote and erased my little invite at the bottom of the post a jillion times but finally decided to post it. Now take a guess at how long it took me to decide to start a new topic over here at 4Real?

I'd like to join, but my dh has the good camera (just like yours, Jennifer). I'm afraid my little camera is ok for snap shots, but that's about it.

Oh, I love the idea! I have a camera like yours (but not quite). I only know how to use the automatic features. I can't wait to see it all come together each day.
Oh, and I love the bag idea. The only drawback with a big camera like this is that you can't just slip it into your pocket. Big zoom lenses and a better macro lens has been on my list for birthdays and Christmases for two years now.

You know, I don't have a great camera, but I do have a new one that I would like to practice with! I also have a new blog (new to typepad after 5 years at xanga) that I would like to work with even more.
Count me in!
Now to think of some sort of theme....

So my dear husband finally arrived home after work and I was able to show him my photography fun for April.
He had this to say:
Hi ladies,
This is Jen's DH on the line (is that old school or what?) and would like to say that Jennifer has a nice camera, but that does not make a good photograph! I have been enjoying photography for many years and you would be surprised what you can do with just a pin hole camera or a point and shoot...Look it up and try it!  It's not easy but most of the best pictures are being friendly with the camera you have...I can't wait to see your pix's, Have fun!!!!

Cute bag! Do share! I am going to check out the book you linked to, can you share your husbands cheat sheet? I have a nice camera but I don't know how to use it.

What a neat idea! I have unsorted digital photos back to April 2006 (Yikes!) so I'm going to work on those a little bit each day and post some of the best...a walk down memory lane.

Several people have asked about the Cheat Sheet. We bought ours off ebay, here's the link for the D40x version on Amazon. Basically, it tells you on one page (front and back) what all those letters and symbols and numbers your camera flashes at you mean. That way you don't have to carry around your manual ('cause who does that? ). Search for your particular camera type and see if they have it.
