Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It was a small one, a two bump one. Do I just wait for it to pass? LEGO's are non-toxic, aren't they?

My son (5) swallowed a marble yesterday. When I phoned the Healthlinks they said to listen to his breathing (is he wheezing), see if he could swallow water, then if he could swallow bread. If that was all okay, then they said to keep an eye on his stool- if it didn't show up in 3-4 days I was to take him in.

Never had anyone swallow one that size but my daughter swallowed a lot of Legos in her day (swords, pirate treasure coins, heads). We would find them in her diapers. Anyway, I do think they are non-toxic and it is small, I would just wait for it to pass.

Have you ever wondered why these things never happen when your husband is alone with the children, and you're on a trip?

I think he'll be OK.

DD2 swallowed a button and DD1 swallowed her own front tooth. Both cases, the pedi said not to worry about it an don't even bother checking but of course I did. Should you feel the need to watch for it, I can pm you an easy, but very thorough way to do it. I'll spare everyone here the...um...details.

We've been through the lego swallowing thing too
DD (4) swallowed one, screaming for a half an hour before I took her to Urgent Cart thinking it got stuck on the way down. We waited forever, while she was in pain, and then they took an x-ray. LEGOS DO NOT SHOW UP ON X-RAYS, THEY ARE PLASTIC!!! You'd think that the staff at Urgent Care would know that BEFORE they had us wait over an hour for an x-ray! Anyway, by the time the x-ray came back (not showing anything of course), DD was just fine and ready to go play. It just was a bit painful going down, I guess. No complaints afterward about the coming out part. It must have passed one day.

I couldn't resist sharing this story
and the moral of LEGOS WON'T SHOW UP ON X-RAYS
I hope everything goes well for your little one and there's no pain or anything.

God bless,
Christine

I think it will be okay. I will pray that it passes painlessly :)

I have to laugh at this!

I have the newspaper clippings from the late 40's/early 50's when my mother swallowed a toy whistle. It was in a balloon that she was told NOT to play with. The picture in the paper is priceless. My mom, with her hands on her stomach, and the nurse and my grandparents standing over her.

I'm planning on showing it to the kids during one of our health lessons...

He seems to be surviving. Nancy you are so right, these things never happen when dh is home and I am out. I have a feeling he will keep LEGO's out of his mouth now, he was so upset when it happened.

Thanks for the reassurance everyone! I think he is the first to swallow anything.

I also, send out prayers for your little one, but I also have to laugh. A dear friend of mine put one up his nose when he was younger. For years he has suffered from colds/sinuses etc. Then when he was in high school/early college (can't remember) they discovered the lego was still there! We all still make fun of him to this day for that but I think he can breath a little easier these days...
