Ok, I debated where to put this, and decided here...
Here's a great article to relieve any maternal guilt you might be feeling about germs...I was particularly pleased to see the one about frequency of baths!

There's a few things on that list I already do without guilt: like the bathing. My younger dd has problems with eczema during the winter, and the doctor specifically told me not to bathe her more than twice a week. So unless the kids are really messy or I can no longer run a brush through their hair due to caked in ice cream, candy, or other un-identifiable sticky substances (which often happens after spending the day at Granny's) I only give them a bath once a week during the winter. We might up it to two baths with a rinse off in the shower here and there during the summer.
And I never sweated the pee in the bathtub or pool, either. I worked at (and helped build) a water park one summer. Excrement and vomit were the big things to worry about. Plus, there's enough chlorine in most pools to kill just about anything.
I liked the article, though. I think these are things that have become cultural things that are "supposed to be" wrong but most people do many of these things and just don't tell.
